Sailors ages 8-19, come sail with us!
We'd like to invite
everyone to join in!
Fall 2017 Race Team
Join us Sept. 23 at 11 am
Greetings All,
I hope everyone fared well through the storm and thank you to those who came down to the sailing center to help put the club back together after Hurricane Irma's visit.
At this point in time, we will plan to meet at the sailing center at 1100 this Saturday. Please though, keep an eye on your email for any updates. The City has not given us free access to the property yet, so we might need to make adjustments.
Sailors in Optis, Lasers and 420s will participate in drills with our race coaches and experienced parents, group practices with other youth sailing clubs, local friendly competitions or just a fun day on the water. On occasion, for those families that wish to participate, HYS competes in out-of-town one
&
two day regattas.
Sailing on most Saturdays starting at 1100 and ending in time to have the sailor put his or her boat away by 1600.
Even if you are not sure you'd like to participate, join us on the 23rd to learn more!
To the left, listed under Upcoming Events, are dates for some of the regattas that HYS may participate in as a group. Prior to the regattas, a decision whether to attend, or not, will be made depending on the number of sailors who want to be involved. Some sailors choose to come to the practices only and never sail in Regattas, which is fine too!
Bring a lunch, drinks and sunscreen. Cost is $300* for the fall season. Registration for Fall 2017 Race Team can be completed online at
www.HalifaxYouthSailing.org
.
* Payment options are available, please contact Steve.
We pledge to promote ethical behavior among sailors and teach life lessons, which seek to build character, foster teamwork and strengthen respect for self, others and the marine environment.
___________________________________________
There are a couple races coming up and if there are enough individuals interested in attending, we will plan to go as a group. Please text me, ASAP at
904-545-3123, if you are planning to sail in the first race of the Treasure Coast Youth Regatta Series in Fort Pierce on Sunday the 24th.
Also, upcoming, is the 7th Annual Equinox Regatta at The Florida Yacht Club in Jacksonville on Saturday, Sept. 30. It is a one-day event and great for beginning sailors. Please know by our meeting this Saturday, if you are, or are not, planning to attend.
TREASURE COAST YOUTH REGATTA SERIES 2017
If you want to sail a 420, find yourself a partner.
These are fun, relaxed regattas, great for building confidence for some of the larger races.
Boats sailing: Optis,
O'Pen Bics &
420s
HOST CLUBS & DATES
Series Regatta #3 - PBSC (Palm Beach) Sunday, October 22, 2017
Series Regatta #4 - MYC (Melbourne) Sunday, November 12, 2017
The Series is open to junior sailors age 8 - 18. Adults may participate in the O'Pen Bics and 420s
fleets but will not be eligible to receive series trophies.
