June 2018, A Busy Month of Building
Greetings!

I am awed everyday by the number of people who generously share both time and treasure in order to help Habitat CFC provide the stability and security of a decent home to hard working Fairfield County families – many of whom may never know or have the chance to thank those who made their life-changing opportunity for homeownership possible.

As we head into July, we are wrapping up two of the busiest months of the year for home construction, two months in which Habitat CFC welcomed a record numbers of volunteers – from corporations, civic groups, schools, religious organizations and, of course, local individuals and families. We could never do our work without you!

Building homes with volunteers of different ages, backgrounds, experiences and skill levels is no small task. Our construction team must not only be capable builders, but they must also be comfortable teaching, guiding and sometimes, even cajoling those who are lucky enough to work with them. I want to recognize and express our thanks to Kevin, Frank, Jeff, Jacques, Chris, John, and Anthony.  We are also grateful to our AmeriCorps construction team member Nick and, of course, Eileen, who coordinates and schedules all of these volunteers!

As you can see from the pictures below, an awful lot of hands go into building a Habitat CFC house. When they come together, as they always do, the end result is amazing! Please join us.
Sincerely,
Stuart D. Adelberg
Chief Executive Officer

Habitat CFC News
Helping Hands
The Habitat CFC ReStore is proud to announce its new affiliation with the Helping Hands Thrift Store. When the owners of Helping Hands decided to close their Orange location, they approached us and asked if we would take on their remaining merchandise and work to continue their strong relationship with donors, customers and non-profit partners. We have gratefully agreed and are now setting up processes in order to have a seamless transition. One thing is certain – the great service and merchandise deals that thousands have come to expect from Helping Hands will now be found, just a few miles down the road, at the Stratford Restore. Helping Hands’ loyal customers will also be thrilled to know that Vin Testone will be joining the ReStore staff!

Special thanks to Helping Hands owner, Steve Greenberg, for so generously making this arrangement happen and for entrusting the Habitat CFC ReStore with Helping Hands’ stellar reputation, solid relationships and years of good will.

If you haven’t visited the ReStore in a while – there is now an additional reason to take another look! Not only will you find that one of a kind bargain, but you can shop with the knowledge that the proceeds from your purchases will all be put to great use – building new homes for hard working local families, and providing other critical services in the community! And if you haven’t quite finished your spring cleaning, there’s still time to donate your gently used furniture, appliances and other household items. We’ll pick them up, keep them out of the landfills and help them all find new homes!

The Bauer Foundation will match gifts up to $550,000 to build seven homes for seven families!

Donations from existing donors will be matched one for one – doubling every gift. Donations from new Habitat CFC contributors will be matched two for one – tripling your support.

Please don’t miss this opportunity to multiply your gift and multiply your impact!
