Now accepting homeowner applications for widows/widowers of military
Macomb County Habitat for Humanity is expanding its search for a past or present military soldier to also include widows and widowers of a military veteran. We have one home available in Clinton Township and hope to find a family in need of better housing.

The qualifications are as follows:
• Applicants must show a need for the home (paying >30% of income for rent, currently living with family, etc.) Applicants cannot currently own a home
• Willingness to complete program requirements (attend monthly family meetings, accumulate a $1,000 down payment). For military families, the service to our country is counted as their "sweat equity," and the required 250 hours per adult is waived
• Ability to pay – see chart on the right
• Workable credit (2 years after a bankruptcy, not delinquent in student loans or child support, satisfied liens or judgments)
For more information, questions or for a homeowner application, please contact Marnie Wettlaufer at 586-263-1540 x104 or email mwettlaufer@macombhabitat.org
A Brush With Kindness Applications open to homeowners previously served in the military

Projects could include: handicap ramp installation, painting, trim work, porch/deck repairs, door/window replacement and more.

Meet our Volunteer of the Month!
Great Partner Retiring
Dave Dion , Community Engagement Specialist with Thrivent Financial, has announced that he will be retiring after 12 years with that organization. Over the last six years, Dave has coordinated the Thrivent Builds program in Macomb Co. and elsewhere in the region, mobilizing volunteers and funds for home builds and exterior repairs to owner occupied homes. He will remain in the area and now will have more time for his many other interests. He has been an innovator and advocate for us beyond the Thrivent partnership.

Thrivent Finanical is a Fortune 300, not-for-profit membership organization that helps Christians be wise with their money and live generously. They are the largest corporate partner for Habitat for Humanity. Since 2005 the impact has included over $226 million committed by Thrivent and Thrivent members to build or repair more than 4,800 homes in the U.S. and around the world, with more than 673,000 volunteers participating, and over 1,000 Thrivent Builds Worldwide trips sponsored. Local impact includes 50% funding for 21 homes in Macomb Co. (over $1.2 million), 15 home repair projects and the support through the Thrivent Choice program from many local members.

We thank Dave for his leadership and wish him well in the future.
