partner families
Partner Family Build

A key part of Habitat's mission is partnering with families throughout the construction process and beyond. Our Partner Families are invested in the process by completing sweat equity hours before purchasing their home. We are hosting our first ever Partner Family Build this month to welcome back families who have already purchased their homes!

Neighborhood Support

This past month a neighbor stopped by our Oak St site with muffins his wife had baked for volunteers. The couple has been observing the construction process and wanted to recognize the hard work an dedication of the volunteers and future homeowner throughout the construction process. Habitat is always striving to make a difference within the community.

home preservation program
Do you know someone in need?

Habitat's mission extends beyond home construction to help those in our community in need . Do you know a homeowner on a fixed income who is struggling to maintain safe living conditions? Do they need help addressing issues that present
life, safety or health issues? Have they received a code violation and and cannot fix the problem? Our Critical Home Repair program may be able to help. Basic program guidelines include:
  • The home must be owner-occupied
  •  Household income at or below 60% of HUD median guidelines
  •  Property taxes paid in full
  • A fair cash value of less than $200,000
  • Not in danger of foclosure
  • Current homeowners insurance
  • The home cannot be sold in the next 24 months

For more information or an application for this program contact Kim Gran, Home Preservation Coordinator at 847-836-1432 or kim.gran@habitatnfv.org

Volunteers rebuild a deck in Elgin!

The rebuilt deck will allow John to be able to use his front door safely.

warehouse space needed

ReStore Elgin is in need of approximately 10,000 square feet of warehouse space. Free would be ideal- we are a non-profit- but a deep discount would also be great. Location flexible (but prefer northern Cook County). A semi-trailer might work too!

Have a Lead? Contact Deanna Davies our ReStore Director at 847-742-9905x31 or deanna.davies@habitatnfv.org.
