home preservation projects
You may not know, but we work throughout the community on Home Preservation Projects alongside existing low-income families. In June, we hosted Zurich North America's Interns at three locations across Carpentersville, as well as working with Thrivent to paint a garage in Elgin! We are always recruiting volunteers for these projects. Check out VolunteerUp for the latest opportunities!

core values
As we start a new fiscal year this July we want to restate our core values and why we continue to build!

MISSION FOCUSED
Home ownership
We believe decent affordable housing is a fundamental component of families improving their lives.

  Partner Families
We sell homes to partner families of low to moderate income who demonstrate the ability to repay a mortgage and are willing to partner.

  0% Financing
We finance home ownership with no-interest mortgages because it is the key to affordability.

Sweat Equity
Every partner family is required to complete sweat equity.

COMMUNITY MINDED
Build
We believe that every person has something to contribute and something to gain by creating strong communities in which all people have an affordable place to live.

Involve
We are committed to home ownership by engaging all available resources, including volunteers.

Collaborate
We believe we can accomplish more through community partnerships.

Tithe
We support the global community through our tithe to support Habitat's build projects around the world.

INTEGRITY DRIVEN
Conduct
We operate with the highest integrity being non-discriminatory and in accordance with applicable laws.

Stewardship
We protect and safeguard mission funds, utilize them as directed by donors in a cost-conscious and effective manner.

We are looking forward to another year of partnering with you to build strength, stability and self reliance through shelter!
