"To teach in a manner that respects and cares for the souls of our students is essential if we are to provide the necessary conditions where learning can most deeply and intimately begin." - bell hooks, Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom
A Hallett Academy Word or Two...
Last Wednesday evening, we met with the Deputy Superintendent, Susana Cordova, to discuss the School Performance Framework results from the 2016-2017 academic year. It is critical that we make dramatic changes at an accelerated pace. We are taking even, measured steps in the right direction----literally turning around our community of learners so that it is true about our school, in alignment with the Denver Plan 2020, that WE ARE the great school in our neighborhood.
Thank you for trusting us with your children, and for supporting our efforts to provide a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment, where the learning yields joy, wonder and success for all.

Our youngest learners were dressed and ready to celebrate reading on Tuesday.

Our third graders were able to record original music at Studio 3 Productions, this week. This opportunity helped expand our students exposure to the arts out into the community.
Our fifth graders are engaged in rigorous, relevant, hands-on learning in STEAM Exploration.
