Fall has officially arrived, and with it many fun fall activities.    See below for information on several fall sports programs for adults.  Tickets are selling fast for Halloween Happenings.  Don't wait, get yours now before they are sold out! 

Save the dates!!   Brunch with Santa will be held on Sunday, November 26.  Tickets will go on sale October 9.  Also, mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 13 for the presentation of the play "A Christmas Carol" to be held at the BWGCC.  Tickets go on sale November 1.

The  new Greenwich S katepark  is open for the fall season.   Also, the Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink   is open on a limited basis and registration for fall programs is being accepted now.

Dorothy Hamill Skating RinkDHSR
The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink is open on a limited basis will a full public schedule beginning October 9.  Registration for Fall Skate School and Youth Hockey has begun. The Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink is located on Sue Merz Way, off Sherman Avenue; phone (203) 531-8560.  The rink is equipped with Live Barn, which can broadcast sporting events taking place at the rink.  Use the promo code e0a9-56d7 to get a 10% discount off the fee.
Greenwich Skatepark   skatepark
 We are pleased to announce the opening of the new concrete skatepark located at 100 Arch Street. We held our grand re-opening celebration on September 9.  Free lessons and a friendly competition with prizes were held for all ages.  Pictured below are Leonardo, Luca, Lorenzo, and Liam Corsano of Old Greenwich, shown with a skateboard raffle prize from 2nd Nature Skate Shop.  We wish to thank all our sponsors, including Chillybear, Clouds, Vapor, Lounge, and Utopia Skate Shop.

Fall Sports racquetsports
  

Fall Pickleball registration is open for  adults. Register for one, two, or three days per week of play at EGCC.  Drop in play is always available; whereby participants pay each time they attend.

Registration is underway for adults to play   Platform Tennis.  The courts at Loughlin Avenue will open early this year on September 30.

Adults can still join a coed volleyball team. Play is Tuesday evenings at Western Middle School.  Contact Frank Gabriele.
Eastern Greenwich Civic Center EGCC
The EGCC has much lined up for October including the Health & Wellness Expo on October 5, CT Deaf Expo on October 14, children's art classes, Friday night roller skating, and more.   Registration is still open for fall pickleball.   For additional information on these and other programs and events, see our October Newsletter.        

The Civic Center has rooms of varying sizes available to rent for your next party, meeting, or class!  Call us at (203) 637-4583 or contact us by e-mail .  The EGCC is located at 90 Harding Road in Old Greenwich.  
 
BWGCCBendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center
BWGCC is offering a few youth sports programs for fall.  Indoor Field Hockey will be held for grades 1-5 on Sundays.  Registration begins October 9.  On October 2, registration begins for  Youth Basketball Clinics for ages 5 through 10.    Jay and Ray Music  has classes for ages 6 months to 4 years old.     BWGCC has other fun programs for youth including, Just Wee Two and the many programs of The Dance Pointe.  

Adults can participate in Zumba classes. Open Coed Adult Volleyball  is held Tuesdays from 7:30-9:00 PM; the drop-in fee is $4 per evening.  Those interested in joining a team to play in the Coed Volleyball League can contact Frank Gabriele.   Adults can drop-in to play Pickleball; see the  Pickleball schedule    KG Fitness Boot Camp class will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Register for one or both evenings.

National Alliance for Youth Sports
Member Organization
Greenwich Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce that we are now a Member Organization of the National Alliance for Youth Sports. Our staff and volunteers who work with our youth sports programs will have access to NAYS Coach Online Training.

Part 1 gives an overview of a coach's role and responsibilities in youth sports including important aspects such as teaching sportsmanship, building confidence, the role of winning, injury prevention, youth sports violence, conditioning and stretching, and more.
Part 2 covers drills, skills and fundamentals of each specific sport.
Part 3 requires coaches agree to and sign a Code of Ethics for coaches. 

Griffith E. Harris Golf Course  Griff
Griffith E. Harris Golf Course  is very proud to announce 

that the Metropolitan Golf Association, which is a region of the PGA, has selected our course to hold their 2018 Public Links Championship.  That is a testament to the quality of our course and the reputation that it has!  The date for the 36 hole tournament is June 20, 2018. 

Mini Twilight Golf:  5:00 PM to close, as many holes as you can play.  Members $11.00; non-members $15.00 every day.

Tickets are on sale for our annual  Halloween Happenings . Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Child tickets are $10 and adults $8 each.  Tickets will NOT be sold at the door and are limited.  Do not delay in purchasing tickets. Greenwich Conservation Commission

The Greenwich Conservation Commission is offering a Healthy Yards Workshop on October 18 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Garden Education Center, 130 Bible Street in Cos Cob.  For more information on the program and registration, click here.

Parks & Recreation Foundation PRFoundation
The Greenwich Parks & Recreation Foundation was set up to receive donations, allowing the community citizens and businesses an avenue to donate to the Town of Greenwich Parks & Recreation projects and  programs.  The foundation is a 501(c)(3).  For more information and to donate, visit the Foundation website .
  
Through the Parks & Recreation Foundation, one is able to donate to the Parks & Recreation Scholarship Fund.
Greenwich Farmers Market

The  Greenwich Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM through November at the commuter parking lot on the corner of Arch Street and Horseneck Lane.  Download a flyer.
Special Recreation
Greenwich Special Olympics   offers sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual or physical challenges.  Read more.

Abilis  meets the needs of people with developmental disabilities throughout their lives.  Abilis works in schools, civic organizations, and with families throughout Fairfield County.  Their events are posted on their website calendar .
Weather Cancellation Information
Please make note of the Recreation Division's weather cancellation hotline phone # (203) 861-6100.  Information regarding cancellations and closures is also posted on our Recreation Sports Website , where you can also sign up to get text alerts and/or e-mails notifying you of changes. 

Recreation Credit and Refund Policy
Credit requests for recreation program registration will be considered if received in writing prior to the start of the program.  There is a $15.00 administrative fee for credits.
  
The general policy of the Recreation Division is that we do not process refunds unless a program has been cancelled.  Please read all registration information carefully and contact us prior to registering for a program if you have any questions.
