Dear Neighbors,
As you are aware from
prior newsletters, two stores on Halsted Street were robbed at knifepoint over the past several weeks. Stores in other neighborhoods were robbed as well.
We're very pleased to report that last night, June 3rd, the Chicago Police Department apprehended and charged Willy Doles, 59, for these robberies, and he is now in police custody.
The defendant has been
charged with five felony counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and one felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
We applaud the efforts of the Chicago Police Department, working with other law enforcement agencies, which resulted in the swift apprehension of this criminal.
As a direct result of these crimes, and at my urging, the 18th District has increased patrols along this stretch of our neighborhood. These increased patrols will remain for the foreseeable future.
This defendant has a prior criminal record, and we plan to follow this case as part of our court advocacy efforts. If you would like to participate in going to court with me to represent our community in this case,
please call our office at
773-348-9500
or
