Greetings!

Happy New Year! HTAB's New Year's Resolution? Our ambition for 2011 is to be your best source of local labour market information. To start off this relationship you are invited to attend our Report to the Community event on Feb. 17/11 where you will hear about the past, present and future work that HTAB is involved with.

Please join our newly created Linkedin group and add to the discussions.

And employers, don't forget to complete our three minute Workforce Survey to share your sector's workforce trends regarding hiring and lay-offs.  This survey is delivered to your inbox monthly and when completed gives us a snap-shot view of the local labour market.

Out of the Box Customer Service
HTAB, along with PATH Employment Services, the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie, and the Niagara Workforce Planning Board, have been funded by the Accessibilty Directorate of Ontario to support the roll out of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.  The goal is to educate and promote awareness and the adoption of the Customer Service Standard among small businesses (less than 20 employees) in the Retail Trade and Hospitality Tourism Sectors.  Each Local Board has phoned over 500 businesses in each area.  Materials on how to comply with the new legislation are presently being mailed to these employers.  If you would like more information on Out of the Box call Cathy at 905-521-5777.
Dollars & Sense: A guide to employer training credits, incentives and supports
HTAB recently released an updated copy of the Dollars & Sense Guide which lists vital information for skilled trades employers regarding tax credits, wage incentives, Employment Ontario Services, OYAP, funding for summer employment for students and financial help for apprentices.  Click here to download a free pdf of the guide.
We hope that you find the information provided in this newsletter to be of use to your business or organization.  Our next newsletter will be delivered to your inbox on January 26, 2011.
