Planning a Fall Wedding

Fall is becoming a very popular time to get married. It used to be the spring that attracted couples, but the fall is turning out to be our vendors busiest season! Why is there a growing interest in fall weddings?

The weather tends to be fairly mild in the fall in Virginia. Spring weather can be very hot. Even a May wedding can leave your guests sweating. September, October, and November weddings tend to be cooler but warm enough to still have an outdoor wedding.

Plus, who doesn't love the changing leaves and beautiful scenery of outdoor wedding venues. Here are some amazing outdoor locations for your fall event!

Fall Florals

Spring and summer floral arrangements and bouquets tend to be vibrant and bright, full of bold color or pastels! Fall florals are richer, deeper in color and embrace the jewel tones of nature. The featured photo is a centerpiece designed by Black Iris Floral Events.

We also love the growing trend of incorporating a plethora of greenery into your wedding florals. Here are some of our favorite local florists!

Falling for Fall Decor

Some brides love to embrace all things fall, including pumpkins and leaves and even Halloween! We saw a beautifully Halloween inspired wedding recently that is linked below.

However some brides want to steer away from the literal and just have a nod to the season. You can easily do this with florals and the amazing perks of your venue. For example, The Water Table has a beautiful fireplace that provides a warmth to the beach venue.

Featured Vendor
The Obici House is a historic mansion located in Suffolk, Virginia at Sleepy Hole Golf Course.  It was once home to the founder of Planters Peanuts; Amedeo Obici and his wife Louise. This venue is filled with chandeliers, original stained glass windows, columns, tile and woodwork. With both indoor and outdoor options The Obici House is the perfect setting for a fall outdoor wedding. We absolutely love this wedding they hosted recently photographed by Jessica Ryan Photography. The bride and groom had an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception! We love the gorgeous fall colored florals.
