As Salaam Alaikum,

RIGHT NOW- in Mesa, AZ - Pamela Geller is standing in front of a Tea-Party crowd, spewing utter hateful falsehoods about our faith in order to stoke hatred and distrust of Muslims.

This is just the latest chapter in a wave of Islamophobia that is sweeping our LOCAL community - and nationally as well. Some are saying that we have reached higher levels of anti-Islam sentiment - even higher than its peak of 2010. Brothers and sisters, we need to put in place strong institutions and people who will push back against this sentiment, and protect the rights of our community.

The CAIR-AZ banquet is less than two weeks away - November 9th.
We need the support of the community now more than ever. 100% of our funding comes from the AZ Muslim community, therefore we can go only as far as the support we get.
We encourage everyone to please be there on November 9th - you can reserve your tickets here:
Banquet Registration
Every donation helps. And even if you will not be able to donate - just being there to show solidarity goes a long way. We now have a AZ Bar-Certified Attorney working full time to protect the community - one person alone is a great start, however the level of needs of the community is much greater.
We have a great lineup of speakers coming, and a list of great accomplishments to highlight as well. Come out and join us!

Sincerely,

Imraan Siddiqi
CAIR-AZ President

Announcing Our Keynote Speakers:

Altaf Husain, MSW, PhD:  Altaf was just appointed Vice President of ISNA, and has been one of the most in-demand speakers nationwide - due to his funny, down-to-earth, yet academic style. He received his Ph.D. in Social Work from Howard University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Husain's research interests include the mental health and integration of immigrant and refugee families, and especially Muslim adolescents, in the United States. He serves on the board of MSA National; as current Vice-President US and former chair of the Leadership Development Committee of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA); and an advisory board member of the Peaceful Families Project -dedicated to the prevention of domestic violence. His past service to the community includes serving as a two-term national president of the Muslim Students Association (MSA National) and an executive committee member of the Muslim Alliance in North America (MANA). Dr. Husain lives in Northern Virginia with his wife Mona and their children, Omar, Ahmed, Asmaa and Hasan.

Tariq Abu Khdeir:  This brave young man gripped the world's attention when he was brutally beaten at the hands of Israeli police, on video.  Tariq has become a bold face of standing up in the face of oppression and injustice, and we're proud to have him come tell his story to the Arizona community along with both his parents.

Hassan Shibly - Exec. Director, CAIR-FL:  Hassan, along with the CAIR-Florida team were instrumental in helping raise awareness to Tariq's plight, and ensure that he was released and returned back to his family.  We're excited to have him back in Arizona once again!

Gadeir Abbas, Esq - Gadeir is a veteran of the CAIR family who has been an integral part of many of the landmark cases CAIR and the Muslim community has been involved with in recent years.  He will discuss the civil rights environment

Gadeir Abbas - Gadeir is a veteran lawyer from the CAIR family who has been an integral part of many landmark cases that CAIR has handled in recent years.  Gadeir combines a great sense of humor with a wealth of knowledge on the civil rights landscape facing the Muslim community today.
