After this session, you will have a greater comfort and confidence in caring for children with disabilities and chronic illnesses. This module provides the basic knowledge and skills you need for successful integration of children with diverse needs and abilities in your classroom or family home. This session defines inclusion and describes how to overcome real and perceived obstacles. You will learn about the laws that protect the rights of children and adults, and understand how to avoid practices that are considered discriminatory under those laws.

United 4 Children hosted the first Missouri Accreditation "Raising the Bar of Quality" session in our area on June 4, 2015 - facilitated by Pamela Spear, Missouri Accreditation Executive Director. Many area child care centers staff attended this training, which covered the NEW Missouri Accreditation Preschool Self-Study criteria which is rolling out July 1. Elisa Zieg is United 4 Children's new Program Development Officer. Elisa has a passion and commitment for ensuring that children and families have what they need to be successful in life. Elisa moved to the St. Louis community and United 4 Children in 2013, from a little place called Texas, she has been working hard to develop and strengthen relationships with organizations that positively impact our families. Elisa has a Bachelor's in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master's in Conflict Resolution and Reconciliation. Elisa areas of expertise include; early childhood and school age care, program management, leadership development and inclusive practices. |
