We hope you are having a great summer!  We can feel the "Happiness Inside" at Beyond which you, our dedicated Beyond community brings to the studio with each visit. It is wonderful to see so many of you continuing your practice over the summer.

 

We are so excited about our fall line up! Join us as we continue to offer you fabulous classes with a passionate and focused approach to mind body programming.  Be prepared to find joy, meaning and purpose as you enjoy your journey to "reach beyond".


 
Here are some highlights for the fall:

  • Wake up bright and early on Tuesday and join Todd Lavictoire for some Core Movement at 6:30 a.m.
     
  • Change up your schedule with some new classes:  Yoga Tune Up, Fusion, and Restorative Yoga
     
  • Let your teen try yoga on Tuesdays! Our after school Teen Yoga program will start in September for ages 12-16.
     
  • Look forward to a strong line up of Specialty classes including Forrest Yoga, Meditation, Yoga for Full Figures, Bollywood Yoga, DJ Yoga and Intro to Yoga.
     
  • Return of our ever popular Goddess Nights in October
     
  • Enjoy above and beyond teaching with Loren Crawford, Lifestyle Coach Tania Carriere, Yoga Tune Up and our new 200HR Beyond Yoga Teacher Training  Program.

Tell us about your journey to the Taj Mahal...

 

This past January, I had the privilege to cross several items off my bucket-list while spending a month abroad in India. Travelling for 10 days with a guided tour group around the Golden Triangle, we, of course, made a stop in Agra to visit one of the seven wonders of the world: the Taj Mahal. How does yoga nurture you?

 

Yoga teaches me how to surf the waves of my thoughts and emotions without allowing the tide to pull me under. When a tidal wave occurs, as it will from time to time, yoga is the force that compels me to break through the surface of the water and look to the horizon. Yoga makes me stronger and more flexible inside and out. I love the freedom I feel in my body-the mobility of my joints, the power of my muscles, the capacity of my lungs-after I practice yoga. I love how refreshed I feel in body, mind, and spirit: ready to surf the next big wave! Read more...

 

What's on your playlist?

 

A couple of my favorite songs to listen to while I practice yoga are: 'Festival' by Sigur Rós, 'La Valse d'Amélie (Version Piano)' by Yann Tiersen, and 'Guilty Cubicles' and 'Feel Good Lost' by Broken Social Scene. My favorite albums to listen to at the moment are: Yoga Padhi by Sounds of Isha, and Om Guitar by Stevin McNamara.

WELLNESS TIPS WITH THERAPEUTIC EFFECTSTE

Summer Hydration

It's great to bask in the hot summer days but we have to be extra vigilant about our hydration. In the summer we perspire more, thus losing water from our body more quickly than in the winter. If our water depletion is more than our intake our soft tissues, organ systems and general health is not optimal. Muscle tissue and fascia tighten up faster when we're dehydrated resulting in a greater chance of soft tissue injury. Also, when we stretch we might feel 'tighter than usual' or it may take longer to stretch out our tissues and feel stretched out. If you notice your clothes or lawn chairs leaving their imprint on you for extended periods of time this is a great indication that your hydration level is low so it's time to drink up a nice glass of water!
