There is just something magical about seeing 11/11/11. One of those markers in time that just feels funny and good. For us, it brings back an overwhelming sense of gratitude to our community who bailed us out a few years back when the banks weren't passing their own bail outs down to small businesses. Many of you will recall that we humbly requested everyone chip in $11.11 to help us keep afloat during a devastating economic slump. Hundreds of our patrons did just that, some adding much more generous amounts to our bundle. We raised somewhere in the ballpark of $7,000 and there is no doubt we wouldn't have made it another few months without this outpouring of generosity from our community. In honor of that generosity, we've included a special deal at the bottom of this newsletter - 2 entrees for $11.11.

It is auspicious that today on 11/11 is the launch of Eat Local Week throughout Central Florida. The times require we take personal responsibility for our health, which extends to our local community of farmers, artisan producers and the small enterprises such as Dandelion that celebrate localism. Make it your Thanksgiving gift to commit to eating local all week long, go on a farm tour, head over to the Winter Park Harvest Festival and bring that local goodness to your Thanksgiving feast coming up.

One of the most direct ways you can impact your local community and benefit your belly at the same time, is to join the Homegrown Co-op. Not only can you order our Hummus, Family Size Chili and soon our homemade dressings, but you will have direct access to locally grown and often organic food that is often harvested the morning it is delivered to the Co-op. Check out the open house next week.

Thank you for eating local!

Gratefully yours,

Local Food Conference and Enterprise Summit

Farmers, Food Producers, Local Minded Investors, Restauranteurs, and local resilience advocates, THIS IS A MUST ATTEND EVENT!!!

The conference will begin with a gap and asset analysis of our local food system and includes opportunities to strengthen your own business and collaborate with other members of our local community.  It closes out with a keynote from Woody Tasch, the founder of Slow Money.

One of the goals of the conference is to create a slow food focused micro-lending program to accelerate the growth of our local food economy.  To activate this, the last session of the day will host twelve pre-qualified local food enterprises pitching their business or initiative to the attending local food stakeholders, area investors, investment club and like-minded entrepreneurs

You do NOT want to miss this epic, game-changing conference tailored specifically for Central Florida. Our own Julie Norris will be speaking on authentic marketing for foodies and Dandelion will be serving up Chili and other goodness at the festival on Sunday!

The conference is limited to 150 people, so reserve your spot right now! Learn more here.

Let us celebrate the new generation of entrepreneurs, consumers & investors who are showing the way from Making A Killing to Making a Living.
