To my fellow Marine parents,

Since before the United States of America was a country, the Marine Corps has provided patriotic young men and, since 1918, women with the chance to fight for, and protect, our freedom, instilling them with the core values of honor, courage, and commitment along the way. By refusing to be anything or accept anyone other than the best, the United States Marine Corps has established itself as America's elite fighting force.

Over the course of nearly two and a half centuries, the Marine Corps has become world-renowned for the bravery, determination, and selflessness displayed by those who have proudly called themselves "Marine" in some of the most infamous battles in our country's history. From Belleau Wood to Guadalcanal, from Iwo Jima to the Chosin Reservoir, from Khe Sanh and Hue City to Fallujah, the Marine Corps has shown time and again that it doesn't matter who the enemy is, how brutal the fighting is, or how slim the odds are--Marines persevere to get the job done, paying for it in blood, sweat, and tears.

Today, November 10, marks the 241st birthday of the Marine Corps and tomorrow, November 11, is Veterans' Day. Generations of heroic men and women have sacrificed their time, their energy, their comfort, and, in many cases, their lives to protect the freedom we as Americans value so dearly.

With that in mind, we at Marine Parents would like to extend a heartfelt "Thank You" to our men and women in uniform, past, present, and future. And Happy Birthday Marines!

God bless and Semper Fi!
Team Marine Parents at the 2016 Marine Corps Marathon

We are excited to announce that 23 of our Team Marine Parents (TMP) runners participated in the 41st Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday, October 30th, 2016. We are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication put forth by each and every one of them. These runners trained all year long in addition to fundraising and spreading awareness of the organization. Together, TMP runners raised over $21,000 for the outreach programs of MarineParents.com, Inc. in 2016.

We would also like to mention our gratitude for our amazing volunteers that were part of the TMP Fan Squad. Our runners agree that training and competing is much easier when someone is cheering them on, and we are so thankful for all of you that helped us do just that.
2016 Marine Corps Birthday Coin

The 2016 Marine Corps birthday is just weeks away, and to mark the occasion, the EGA Shop has a  limited edition 2016 Marine Birthday Coin.

For collectors of coins and collectors of Marine Corps Birthday memorabilia, this is a limited edition available only at MarineParents.com's EGA Shop, where 100% of the proceeds benefit the outreach programs of the organization.

History of the Marine Corps Birthday

Since the time of the Phoenicians and Greeks, roughly three millenia, fighting men on ships have served as boarding parties (in attacks on other ships) as well as infantry (while securing land bases and harbors). In 1664, the British Admiralty named its soldiers of the sea the "Regiment of Marines."

Approximately one century later, in the developing American Colonies, a committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore. The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines.
