Happy Spring and Happy Easter!
Everyone you talk to is saying OMG I can't believe it is April already. It is time to be thinking graduation quilts, wedding quilts and, of course, the Black Hills Quilt Show is coming in June. We can help you with all your fabric and pattern needs for these treasured projects as well as fantastic Husqvarna Viking and Pfaff sewing and embroidery machines on which to sew them.

We were able to help the Owinza Quilters Cooperative at Kyle, SD, continue and expand their dreams of quilt making with a new long arm quilting machine. These dedicated women are continuing the tradition of making Star Quilts and teaching the younger generation this wonderful art that we all share and are so passionate about. Quilting is a universal language that we all can speak and understand. It is so necessary to keep our young people interested in sewing and quilting and let them think outside of the box and be creative.

After polling many customers, 18 of the most popular lines were named to the All Star group. Black Hills Shop Hop Begins April 6!

The 2018 Black Hills Shop Hop, based on Rosie's Posies Pattern, is ready to go!
Our sample (at the left) is hanging in the shop so keep an eye out for it the next time you are in. Stop at each of the nine participating Black Hills Area Quilt Shops and pick up their pattern for a block. You are on your way to a beautiful and unique quilt!

Moonlit Paths Mystery Quilt Coming Soon
|
|
Shelley Cavanna of Cora's Quilts has put together an online Mystery Quilt using the new Gloaming line from Contempo. (See the entire line on the
Fabric Page.) The Mystery Quilt is called "Moonlit Paths". It is a free project with four size options. Cutting instructions will be published on the last Friday in March so there is plenty of time to join in. Get your instructions online and come see us for your fabric purchase. We have the full line however it looks like there are only 8 fabrics in the Mystery Quilt. This should be a lot of fun!

A new Mount Rushmore panel from Northcott has just arrived. It joins their ongoing Stars and Stripes Collection that can be found in the shop in the patriotic fabrics area.
This beautiful patriotic panel is by Linda Ludovico & Deborah Edwards in Support of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. We are kitting the panel using the Pillars of Strength pattern by Elaine Theriault.
Memorial Day is only two months away so this is the perfect time to get your special project started.

We have patterns specifically designed by Laura Heine of Fiberworks for the collage technique or you can adapt any pattern or design of your own to the technique. The first session is Wednesday, May 2, 9:30 am to noon and the second is Wednesday, May 9, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Cost is $35 plus supplies.

New Patterns from GE Designs

These quilts by Gudrun Erla of GE Designs use assorted 10" squares of light and dark fabrics as well as innovative piecing and cutting with the Stripology Squared ruler (by GE Designs for Creative Grids). Instructions for using regular rulers are included. The pattern comes with 5 different size options: crib, lap, twin, full, queen.

2018 Row by Row Experience Begins June 21st
|
Row by Row Experience® began in 2011 with 20 quilt shops across New York State. Today thousands of stores in the US, Canada and Europe welcome travelers through their doors. Travelers collect row patterns, then create stunning quilts with those rows … and no two are alike!
This year's theme is Sew Musical! We have already ordered our License Plate for 2018 and are working on our pattern. Beginning June 21, 2018, visit any of the participating shops and receive a free pattern for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had traveling to the stores. Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows!

The Sturgis Area Arts Council Quilt Show continues through April at the Sturgis Public Library.. The show is open during the library's regular hours. A special program will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 14.
