VIM's Social Care Coordinator Attends Motivational Interviewing Training
Julie Lane, VIM's Social Care Worker, attended a two-day training on the use of Motivational Interviewing. Developed in the 1990's by clinical psychologists Drs. Miller & Rollnick. Motivational Interviewing is a method that works on facilitating and engaging intrinsic motivation within the client in order to change behavior. It is non-judgmental, non-confrontational and non-adversarial; its goal-oriented, patient-centered counseling style is meant to elicit behavior change by helping patients to explore and resolve ambivalence
. The training was offered by the Free Clinic Association of Pennsylvania and was led by Mary Jane Rogan, CRNP at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill.
