LAST WEEK, WE HIGHLIGHTED WARD 4 CANDIDATES DAN LYNCH AND RENEE SUTTON....
Anita Twitchell, incumbent candidate for Ward 2 City Council Representative (Democrat): I am running because I wish to
  • *Increase accessibility of middle-income housing. Ward 2 is the fastest developing section of the City. As our City grows, I want to make sure that new development benefits current residents and encourages new neighbors to move to our City.
  • Protect our natural resources. Canandaigua Lake is a beautiful and wonderful resource Not only is the lake a place to enjoy, it is our source of clean drinking water.. I will make sure Canandaigua Lake and other public spaces are protected so we may continue to enjoy them.

  • Maintain the quality of our top-ranked school district. Our wonderful school district is a great asset to current residents and attractive to those who are looking to start families..
Jim Irwin, (Democrat) candidate for City Supervisor, Wards 2 and 3: I am running because I will advocate for the City of Canandaigua on the County level. I will work toward mutually beneficial solutions to the problems facing our county and its citizens, including:
  • Efficient management of healthcare and social services dollars. As a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, Literacy Volunteers tutor, and trained mediator for the Center for Dispute Settlement, I have met people across the socioeconomic spectrum and know how to effectively and responsibly connect them with the services they need.

  • Protection of the environment and natural resources. One of the great benefits of living in the Finger Lakes region is its natural beauty and pristine landscapes. We must work to preserve these elements to prevent pollution and over-development.

  • Addressing the opioid epidemic. Canandaigua has been hit hard by this crisis. By partnering with other cities and towns in the County and beyond, we can help prevent addiction and aid those who are already addicted.

Bob Palumbo (Republican) candidate for Ward 2 City Council Representative. I believe that communication is critical for successful government operations. Public safety and economic development are my priorities. Community dedication is something I am experienced with  - Over 40 years of service to the city fire department, 40 year member of the Canandaigua Rotary, Volunteer at Light Hill Comfort Care home and board member at Clark Manor Nursing home. I look forward to representing Ward 2 and continuing my years of service to our community.

Rich Russell is running for re-election for (Wards 2 & 3) City Supervisor (Republican). I supported:
* a grant program for Canandaigua to expand waste reduction programs
* the expansion of mental health services for county residents
* improved operation efficiencies by converting the County vehicle fleet to a lease program
* the District Attorney's office to expand fraud investigations and prosecutions
* sidewalk construction to improve student safety atFLCC
Looking Ahead:
* Expanding aging-in-place opportunities for
Canandaigua Seniors
* Enhancing educational and training opportunities for all Ontario County residents
* Maintain Ontario County's strong financial position
* Renovation of 74 Ontario Street property
* Exploring programs to combat growing opiod epidemic

Matt Martin - At-Large City Council Member (Republican). As your current At-Large City Council Member, I am dedicated to prioritizing economic growth, maintaining quality services and encompassing our City's core values. I am a proactive solution seeker, a fact based decision maker and a Veteran. I am also a small business owner and know what it takes to make it easier to do business in our great city and attract new businesses.

*There are 4 At-Large Council Member positions and 5 candidates running. The democrat candidates are Robert O'Brien, Jim Terwilliger, Dave Whitcomb, & Stephen Uebbing.
