Winter Solstice/Crone Time

Solstice December solstice 2015 comes on Tuesday, December 22 at 4:48 UTC.
It's a Time to Celebrate!

Dawn arrives late. Sunset seems early. The day is short and the night is long. For many of us in the Northern Hemisphere, we love the December Solstice. It marks the returning of the light. Winter Solstice is the longest night and shortest day of the year. Meanwhile, on the day of the December Solstice, the Southern Hemisphere has its longest day and shortest night. It marks the time when days will become shorter and there will be less light.

No matter where you live on Earth's globe, a Solstice is your signal to celebrate.

Be sure to look at your noontime shadow. Around the time of the December Solstice, it's your longest noontime shadow of the year.

In the Southern Hemisphere, it's opposite. Dawn comes early, and dusk comes late. The sun is high. It's your shortest noontime shadow of the year.

Here is a candle-lighting ritual you can do with friends or family:

You begin by placing one large unlit candle and various smaller unlit candles for each person present on your table.

Turn off all the lights and spend a moment in darkness, remembering and honoring the Sun's light.

Then whoever is leading, can light the main big candle and offer a blessing. Candle

After that each person can come and light their candle from the main flame and all candles can be placed in a circle or spiral around the main one.

Once all candles are lit, a song, blessing or "Happy Solstice" can be offered in unison.
Seasons of our lives
Get Ready for 2016!
"Seasons of Our Lives"
9/21/16 - 9/25/16

In the sacred space of Mt. Shasta we experienced "the Eternal Spiral". Let us take that experience and look forward to next time when we will gather for another shared "mountaintop" experience.

Crones Counsel XXIV is planned for September 21 -25, 2016 in Denver, Colorado, to coincide with the Fall Equinox on 9/22.

The theme is Seasons of Our Lives, reflecting on those "seasons" we experience as women -- Maiden, Mother, Matriarch, Crone.

Help Make Scholarships Happen

This last year, we were able to offer more scholarships for women to attend the Gathering than ever before. Yes! Providing scholarships is part and parcel of  what we do: Enable and empower women.  Any woman who deeply desires to come to Counsel and who does not have readily available funds, should not have to stay away  from our yearly Gatherings.  Make a donation now.
