Greetings!
We would like to pause from our work to thank you, the supporters of Women's Health Specialists, the Feminist Women's Health Centers of California. Your support empowers us to continue our work: providing reproductive health care and advocating for all rights for all women and men. We remain a steadfast voice to keep reproductive health care accessible and sustainable for all.
In 2011 we provided reproductive health care to over 35,000 men and women in a 29-county area of Northern California. Through our Outreach and Education Program, over 200,000 people received reproductive health education and referrals to needed services.
We are expanding our services to better meet the needs of young people living in rural, isolated areas. Working with a parent group in Glenn County, we will provide services in their community. We recently moved our clinic in Santa Rosa to a beautiful, yet economical, new space to have capacity for more services to more people.
As health reform rolls out nationally, opponents of reproductive rights have begun aggressive political maneuvering because of their unrelenting desire to eliminate access to contraceptives, abortion and reproductive and sexual health care. The current political make-up of Congress has revealed brutal strategies attacking reproductive autonomy. Everyday WHS is making a difference by providing this care and advocating on behalf of the thousands of people we serve in Northern California.
Our work is for the self determination of all people, to call out racist attacks spun under the veil of civil rights and empower women with knowledge about their bodies. We are partnering with a new generation of young women and community leaders who are participating in self-exam workshops, story-telling and consciousness raising: all tools that put women's health in women's hands.
