Annual Year-End Letter

First of all, THANK YOU so much for continuing to stand behind Reef Relief and our efforts to protect Florida's Barrier Reef and benthic communities. We would not be able to do what we do without your constant support.

Currently, Earth is headed toward the sixth mass extinction event in measurable history. We are also experiencing the third largest coral bleaching event ever recorded. In fact, by the year's end we could lose 38% of coral coverage globally. This is heartbreaking news and it seems there are more and more reports like this all the time, but we are dedicated to the fight! Reef Relief and our partners continue to educate our leaders and communities with sound science in an effort to drive policy, awareness and passion for our environment.

Help us protect and preserve our coral reefs! Renew your membership today.

Reef Relief continues to collaborate with like-minded organizations, including the Floridian's Clean Water Declaration Campaign steering committee, the Everglades Coalition, and Last Stand of the Florida Keys. All of these organization work very hard on various issues surrounding water quality, including the Cudjoe Wastewater treatment plant, everglades restoration projects, and algae blooms. With so many issues regarding water quality, we keep very busy!

Clean water is fundamental for the recovery and rehabilitation of Florida's Barrier Reef.
Your generous gift makes our work possible.

Reef Relief works hard to educate our community on the importance of clean water and how residents can help improve and protect our nearshore water quality. Our Stormwater Education Program has evolved from stenciling messages on storm water drains to an informative door hanger. This broad reach effort aims to target 20,000 Key West households.

In addition to educating our community, Reef Relief has been growing our Discover Coral Reef School Program. So far this school year over 1,800 students from 11 schools are participating in the program.

If you are interested in participating in our school program, please email reefrelief@gmail.com.
