WHAT A YEAR!!! 2017 definitely had it's ups and downs, but over all our 30th year has been one of our best EVER!

RIPLEY-GRIER'S ANNUAL 
MAKE-A-WISH FUNDRAISER 
 
Make- A- Wish grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy!   
A "wish kid" can wish for practically anything. For example, some kids wish to meet their heroes (actors, musicians, athletes), or travel to their favorite theme park, or be a superhero for a day, or have a tree house built in their backyard, or even meet a unicorn in the forest (actual wish by a little girl named Addison, 6 years old).   
Whatever the o dds, whatever the obstacles, Make- A- Wish finds a way to make dreams come true, which can be a game changer for a child with a life threatening medical condition. And g ranted wishes are far more than gifts, or singular events in time. Wishes impact everyone involved - wish kids and their families, volunteers, donors, sponsors, medical professionals and communities.

There are several ways you can donate at RG!
Drop a couple dollars in our donation boxes at the reception desks at any RG location (and f or a donation of $5 or more, you can receive a RG Tree Ornament)! 
You can also purchase an RG Holiday Gift Mug at any of our locations. All profits from Mugs and RG Merchandise (shirts, jackets, hats), blue bottles, pens and gently used clothing (available at Butch's Cafe Oasis 520 8th Ave. 16th Floor) will also be donated to Make-A-Wish.
Last year we raised $500. This year we would like to double that; So Ripley-Grier will match dollar for dollar (up to $500) for this years effort.

HOLIDAY JAZZ AT 520
  It just wouldn't be Christmas without a little jazz music in the lobby at our flagship location, 520 8th Avenue. On Wednesday, Dec. 6th, The Jeremy Sweet Combo (pictured) helped put everybody in the Holiday Spirit.   
Happy Holidays Everyone!
So many events, parties, shows, concerts, trips, visits to friends & family and enjoying time with co-workers. A time to admire the beautiful decorations, lights and trees. The best time for sharing moments with family, friends, co-workers, even strangers' smiles and nods.
Today we had the first snow storm, and it was beautiful! Saturday was Jeannie's first band concert at Hofstra, and we went and enjoyed! It was very exciting. Next Saturday is the annual Ripley-Grier Staff Holiday Party. It is a very special annual event we host for our super talented staff. Good food (Italian themed this year), great decorations, entertainment by our own folks and lots of presents for the kids.
Again, as previously mentioned, my advice is to take it slow, plan your timing and don't wait until the last minute, say No to requests and invites that may be too stressful to actually enjoy.
Partake in giving to worthy causes and help folks that are less fortunate. Above all enjoy and be grateful for life's opportunities and bounties. Think about the New Year and contemplate achievable resolutions you may venture to make. Remember fate can be influenced by independent choices and free will. Choose wisely...
Get outside, do some walking and exploring during this very colorful holiday month. Get to the gym on dreary days, especially cold and wet ones. Find a Yoga class to help with the winter angst. If you are able, do some winter sports, that's a plus. Come to fitness class!!!

BROADWAY BEGINS HERE!
Happy Holidays! 2017 is coming to an end, and my first semester of college is over. All I have left are final exams; then I get the rest of December and all of January off until the Spring semester starts. Although my first semester was a bit stressful, I still had a great time meeting new people and learning new things. We are flying out to Tulsa for Christmas and then to Santa Monica for a week celebrating New Year's Eve in one of my favorite places. We get a hotel near the Santa Monica Pier so we can walk there anytime. See you in 2018!              Jeannie
