Ways You Can Support the Schools
Dear Chamber of Commerce Members,
I am the new grant writer for Colonial Heights Public Schools. Our school system appreciates your support of many of our programs in the past. Your members are such an important part of our community, and we are grateful for your help with our students and teachers.
One of our teachers at Colonial Heights Middle School has developed a new reading incentive program this year that has quickly become very successful in motivating kids in the entire school to read. After students read a book, they fill out a book review form and turn it in. The teacher chooses some of the best reviews to share on the morning news program at school, and all students who complete a book review form are given a small prize (usually candy, seasonal items, or school supplies). The program has been extremely popular, and it has encouraged many reluctant readers to read books and write about them. The teacher is thrilled that the students are so excited about reading, and she would like to continue this program all year.
We are hopeful that some Chamber of Commerce members would be willing to help sponsor this successful program by providing a small cash donation to help supply the rewards for students who are participating. We are very excited about the success of this program, and we hope to see it expand to even more students. A joint effort between the school and the community to support improved literacy sends a positive message to our students and their families. Any business that donates would be recognized by the school news. Thank you so much for all you do to support our schools!
Donations can be sent in the form of a check made out to Colonial Heights Middle School. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I'm happy to meet with you if you'd
like. I'm a teacher at Lakeview Elementary, so I'm available after 3. My email is
lisa [email protected], and phone is (804) 467-9010.
Thank you,
Lisa Walker

After Prom Supporters,
Since 1989, the parents of the Colonial Heights High School senior class have organized an After Prom Celebration; the longest running event in our district. This event is an alcohol and drug-free night for our graduating seniors. This year’s After Prom event is scheduled for May 19, 2018 at Colonial Heights High School.
This special event sends a clear message to every student that we care about their safety. All of the graduating seniors and their parents are grateful to the community for making this a safe and memorable night.
The After Prom Steering Committee seeks your support for this worthwhile tradition. Parents are again working countless hours to provide a memorable, entertaining evening of safe fun. Your generosity will provide valuable prizes, contests, games, and food for all seniors present. The Colonial Heights City Council and School Board support the After Prom Celebration and appreciate the generous donations of the community and area organizations.
If you have any question please contact any of the listed committee members.
All donations are tax deductible; please keep this document for your records.
