H appy Hounds News
May 2017

If you haven't noticed, over the recent months, we've been very active on a few social media platforms. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for daily posts and videos of the kids at play. One of our videos is linked in the footer of this newsletter. Of course, we're still very active on Flickr. Don't forget to check back often for regular picture and video uploads. The creativity doesn't stop there, add us, HappyHounders, on Snapchat for daily snaps of the pups' and their goofy antics.

The summer is coming up fast which means we're receiving a bunch of interest for new clients. We still honor our referral program for current clients. Your pooch will receive a free day of daycare to use whenever with each new friend you refer to Happy Hounds.

Of course Happy Hounds will be participating in the 4th of July parade! We will be sending out a sign up sheet for parents and pups who would like to walk in the parade to help show off our pawesome Happy Hounds family. After the parade, everyone will be welcome back to Happy Hounds to enjoy lunch. There will be pools and cake for the pups to indulge. Be sure to keep an eye out for the sign up sheet. Last year was a blast!!

Sincerely,

Happy Hounds

Meet Copo

Copo, a Great Pyrenees, joined the Happy Hounds family in November 2013 at the age of one. This beautiful man is a very well-rounded, worldly pooch but he doesn't let it go to his head. Copo is very eager to greet new pups with a quick sniff and lick and then proceeds to carry on about his day. After a bit of fun and lolligagging, he enjoys a quick mid-morning snooze on the deck. On warmer days, he opts for a leisurely lounge in the pool. On winter days, he chooses a pile of snow to call his own. Regardless of where he snoozes, he always lays like a mother goose, tucking his long legs under his body. Once lunch hits, he takes his time getting to the lunch counter but once he arrives, he better have his lunch ready and served stat! If not, he's not ashamed to complain about slow service. At home, Copo is fluent in Spanish and enjoys serenading his best friend, the cat, with a little melody on the piano.
Adoptable Dog of the Month

Meet Katia
BreedBasenji Mix
Sex: Female
Date of Birth:  10/20/2015
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Energy Level: High
Good with children: Older Only
Good with cats: Unkown
Good with dogs:  Yes

"Katia "Katie" came to us on October 20 from a rural shelter where space can run out quickly. She is a sweet little girl who is somewhat shy and takes a few minutes to warm up to strangers. It appears she has not been treated kindly in the past. Once she knows you, she gives kisses, hugs, and will be in your lap.

Katie is a highly active dog. She would chase the birds from the bird feeder for hours if I let her. She plays nicely with the other dogs in the home. I started taking her to "daycare" two days per week at another foster's house with my dogs. So there are 8-9 dogs to play with.

Katie did not know what toys or nyla bones were when she arrived. She has learned to like those from my dogs. She jumps in the car for a ride, is learning about crate training and doing well with house breaking. She reminds me of a border collie personality, has to be doing things and have a job to do. I have started her on fetch and tennis ball work to give her that job. Katie is very smart, you can literally see the wheels turning. She is food motivated.

Katie would enjoy patient parents who have a fenced yard to play in and explore (bird feeder too). She needs her person around most of the time. Another well-adjusted dog to learn from is preferred. Older children would be best due to her activity level. She would enjoy learning new things especially if treats were involved."
