Announces its Annual Summer Reading Program:
 
Readers of all ages will explore all things sports and fitness this summer as the Warren County Library presents "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read" for children age 3 and up.  The 2016 summer reading program includes something for everyone infant through adult.   We will also have a "Little Runners Club" for infants and toddlers through age 2 and a "Get in the Game - Read" reading club for teens.  Adults are invited to "Exercise Your Mind - Read."
Registration begins June 20 at all branches of the Warren County Library.  The program continues through August 13.  The complete list of programs will be available on the library web site, www.warrenlib.org.  We hope to see you at the library on June 20 and all summer long!  The summer reading program is sponsored by the Warren County Library and is supported by the Friends of the Warren County Library

Calling all muggles, witches, wizards, and ghouls! The magic comes alive at the library! Help us get ready for the continuation of Harry Potter's story by attending our Hogwarts Party on June 29 at 12pm. There will be games galore, curious crafts, and perilous potions. For those in grades

Close Encounters With Birds of Prey 
Would you like to see up close and personal an eagle, falcon, hawk or owl? Join us at the Warren County Library HQ in White Township on June 11 at 11am, when DVRC (Delaware Valley Raptor Center) presents a meet-and-greet discussion on predator/prey relationships, wildlife rehabilitation, specific adaptations of the birds present, and various issues facing wildlife today.  Registration is necessary.

 Creative Haven Adult Coloring Club for Adults (18+)
Calling all adults. Join us on the third Tuesday of each month from 6-7pm to create, relax and unwind while having fun...coloring!  Let your artistic juices flow while relieving stress and escaping the gloominess of winter.  Coloring has become the new adult fad!  Join our newly formed group to see why!  Registration is required.

Young Performers Workshop 2016 Spring Festival Of Shows 
Featuring Bye Bye Birdie, Camelot, Peter and the Wolf and 110 in the Shade.

This Spring Festival of Shows by the Young Performers Workshop is full of musical favorites! The Festival will run May 27 through June 5 in the Little Theatre on the campus of Centenary College in Hackettstown.


Centenary Stage Company's Young Performers work tirelessly to perfect their dance moves, learn all of their lines, and get their vocal harmonies just right for the culmination of their training session and this spring is no exception. Hailed as a "state treasure" The Young Performers Workshop brings in youth from Morris, Warren, Hunterdon and Sussex counties.  CSC's Young Performance Workshop is one of the few young actor training programs in the country that combines formal training with practical application.

Saturday, May 28: Millbrook Village Spring Fling Tour and 11.5-Mile Hike

Join MetroTrails for a very interesting hike and special tour of historic Millbrook Village during their start-of-the-season spring fling event. This will be a fairly easy 11.5 mile hike, with the only elevation being a short ascent to the ridge and the decent to our cars in the afternoon, allowing us plenty of time to enjoy the village.

 

The group will be meeting at 9am at the Coppermines Trailhead Parking Area on Old Mine Road.

Explore animal tracks and evidence and immerse yourself in a variety of different habitats as you explore the Pequest Wildlife Management Area . Blairstown - Givens-Belet Post #258 American Legion sponsors Blairstown's Memorial Day Parade. Veteran memorial services will start at 12 noon in Cedar Ridge Cemetery on Route 94 with the parade following immediately thereafter (about 1pm), finishing at Footbridge Park where trophies will be awarded and complimentary refreshments served.

Monday, May 30: 
Hackettstown - American Legion Post 164 once again hosts the Hackettstown Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30. Scheduled to start at 10am stepping off at Valentine Street; it will conclude with the Memorial Day Service at Union Cemetery. The parade will run regardless of weather.

Belvidere - The parade steps off at 9am from the American Legion Post 131 on Greenwich Street, proceeds to the cemetery on Oxford Street, comes back to the Warren County War Memorial next to the Courthouse, and proceeds to the Water Street bridge over the Delaware River.

Saturday, June 4 (National Trails Day):
Group Hike along the Paulinskill Trail 

The Paulinskill Valley Trail Committee will participate in National Trails Day by sponsoring a hike and booth display at Blairstown Airport. The hike will begin at 10am and the display will be in place from 10am-2pm. We hear the restaurant at the airport is excellent for breakfast and/or lunch! If you prefer to eat along the trail, bring snacks or lunch. Regardless, bring a full water bottle. 

The Paulinskill Valley Trail is a multi-use 27-mile trail part of Kittatinny Valley State Park. Hiking, bicycle riding, horseback riding, and dogs are allowed; but no motorized vehicles are permitted.  All dogs must be on a leash. The tracks have been removed from these rail trails, leaving a pleasant cinder bed path. Except at a few road crossings, the trails are level and offer easy walking, cycling, and horseback riding.  Anyone interested in nature or railroad history will enjoy using this rail trail.

Opening Day June 4:

Saturday, June 4, 1-4pm: Revolutionary War Program at Shippen Manor

The life and times of New Jersey soldiers in the War of Independence will be featured at Shippen Manor Museum, the restored 18th Century iron master's mansion located in Oxford, NJ on Saturday, June 4, from 1-4 pm.
Members of Helm's Company, 2nd New Jersey Continental Line will discuss and demonstrate the drill, tactics and weaponry of George Washington's infantry. The group, composed of reenactors from northern New Jersey recreates a local unit that served throughout the war. Musket firing presentations will offered during the afternoon. Tours of the Manor will also be available, along with discussions of colonial domestic life by historian Bev Altrath. The programs are appropriate for all ages.

Shippen Manor is located 1/4 mile west of the Route 31/Wall Street intersection in Oxford. The museum is open to the public on the first and third Saturday of each month, March through November. There is no admission fee.
