Happy New Year, Music Time Academy Students & Parents!
We are gearing up for another fantastic year of music-making, and could not be more excited for what lies ahead in 2014. After a well earned holiday break for the staff and students these past 2 weeks, we look forward to seeing everyone again when lessons start back up on MONDAY, JANUARY 6th.
Winter Concert
A gigantic "THANK YOU" to everyone who participated in the Winter Concert! It was a positively epic afternoon of music - arguably the craziest feat of a concert in the history of Livermore. We had, by far, the largest turnout ever, with over 100 performances and an estimated audience of 300+, the complete concert clocked in at 4.5 hours. What a production!
Concert photos are now online!

Mark your calendars for the next concert: Sunday, May 4th
Next time, we'll have 2 rooms of music going, to cut down on the show length - stay tuned for details...
Group Workshops in 2014
Toddler & Preschooler Music Class
Are you looking for a fun and exciting way tointroduce music into the life of your toddler? Perhaps you have been playing music for your child since before he or she was even born?
We believe that for children under 5 years old, the most beneficial way to start a music education is through group classes. Learning music in a group setting builds upon the excitement and flow of the three basic elements of music (rhythm, melody and harmony), which come surprisingly natural to most children.

In order to offer more timing options and age-appropriate activities to each group, our classes are separated by Toddlers (ages 1-3) and Preschoolers (ages 3 1/2 to 5). Both groups focus on having fun with music, while learning. We introduce music fundamentals (which can later be applied to any instrument), as well as work on developing musical movement, vocalization, and listening. Our classes utilize both classic children's music and rock/pop songs, and a wide variety of instruments to explore (we provide the equipment for use in class). Feel free to join in the fun for one class or for many months. Students will continue to grow with us, as class themes change on a regular basis in order to offer an introduction to many musical ideas, including exploration of different genres, instruments, cultures, and much more!

TODDLER CLASS (must be accompanied by adult):
Tuesdays at 11:30-12:15pm
$60 per month

Mondays at 3:30-4:15pm
$60 per month Music Class
Ukulele Club

Whether you are completely new to music or have some prior experience, we cordially invite you to join in the fun of the ukulele craze! Our Ukulele Club is a fun-focused group class for students to work under the guidance of an instructor, learning to strum and sing along (or just strum) to popular songs each week. Every month has a different theme, so there's always something new to look forward to. All ages are welcome - bring the whole family (and the neighbors)!

Class Meetings: Mondays at 7pm-8pm
Cost: $50 monthly membership ($15 per single class), $80 for ukulele & one month membership

Student of the Month
Congratulations to Teja Chillarige!
Teja will receive (along with priceless glory and endless bragging rights) a $30 Gift Certificate to Music Time Academy, as well as a $20 gift card to the Cinema West Theater in Livermore!
Instrument: Guitar & Voice
Teacher: Nick Lyon-Wright
Age: 16
School: Dougherty Valley High School
Grade: 11
Student at Music Time Since: June 2013
Hobbies (besides practicing):  Reading, cooking, watching movies

Teja stopped by Music Time Academy once fateful afternoon to see about music lessons. Coincidentally, instructor Nick Lyon-Wright just happened to be available for a trial lesson at that exact time. A spur of the moment music lesson, followed with a lengthy conversation of two new friends, marked the beginning of a fantastic relationship between Teja and Nick.

Due to his consistent practice (hint, hint), in only a few short months of lessons, Teja has made immense progress with his singing and guitar playing. Although his friends and family get to hear Teja sing and play often, his first public appearance was a stellar performance of John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change" at our Winter Concert. One of the only students at this concert to both sing and play an instrument, Teja was a standout performer. Keep up the great work, Teja!
Do you know a current Music Time Academy student with a newsworthy musical story or accomplishment from the past month that should be featured? If so, please fill out our online nomination form by following this link:  STUDENT OF THE MONTH NOMINATION FORM
