Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Hello, Dolly!
Linda had the pleasure of being part of the 50th anniversary weekend for Hello,
Dolly!
, which was organized by her client, the talented and charismatic Richard Skipper.  Many of the original cast starring Carol Channing were there, as well as the cast from the Mary Martin production and the revival, including such notable
names as David Hartman, Carlton Carpenter, Lee Roy Reames, Nicole Barth, Sondra Lee, etc.  The first event was at the New York Sheet Music Society in the Theatre District, followed by a celebration brunch the following day at the famous Sardi's restaurant, with eighty cast and friends.  [Photo: Richard Skipper with some of the members of the original Hello, Dolly! cast].

Welcome, John Zodrow!

Linda is proud to be taking on John Rester Zodrow as her client for his newest thriller, Knock Off.  John has written ten novels, multiple theatrical plays produced on Broadway, and produced and directed television and motion pictures.  His award-winning stage play, All Out, will open at the Cabot Theatre in Milan, Italy on June 21st, 2014. This photo of John was taken in the garden of the illustrious Hemingway home.  Welcome, John!

How Critiques Can Help You

When receiving critiques from a professional editor or another author, the most important thing you can do is, listen.  Keeping an open mind, and not responding emotionally, will help you absorb the information and gain a fresh perspective on your writing's strengths and weaknesses.  A good critique will:

  • Spotlight problems in your manuscript.  Weak characters, unnatural dialogue, and basic plot/storyline issues can be brought to your attention.
  • Bring in another perspective.  Your writing doesn't always convey exactly what you are intending--it's important to get an outsider's perspective to see things that you can't.
  • Offer advice.  Good criticism not only highlights problems, it offers suggestions.  Whether or not you act on the advice, it can be helpful in providing options for future revisions.

Critiques are important in taking your story to the next level.  Receiving a professional editor's criticism can be an extremely effective way to elevate your writing, as long as you remain open in the process.
