Our regular classes resumed Wednesday, January 4th. In the new year we have so many new classes and activities planned for you to explore.

Stepping Masterclass with Jason Nious 

(Molodi, Cirque du Soleil, STOMP)

Tuesday, January 10, 2012. 5:30-7:30pm          

Cost: $20

 

Jason Nious is a performing artist and choreographer whose diverse background ranges from getting his start in NCAA gymnastics and Off-Broadway and regional theatre to performing with Step Afrika, STOMP and Cirque du Soleil's KA on the Las Vegas Strip.  He served three roles (assistant choreographer, dancer and stunt double) for the film Stomp The Yard and has starred in several independent films including 2011's Bubblegum & Broken Fingers.  Jason is the founder and director of Molodi LLC, an arts collective which performs and teaches worldwide through their body percussion band,Molodi LIVE and their full length theatrical show, Raw Footage.  Currently, Jason is performing in Cirque du Soleil's new spectacle Zarkana which opened last summer at Radio City Music Hall in New York and will soon embark on an historic tour to the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia.  He is armed with a B.A. in Theatre from the University of New Mexico and a never-ending hunger to accomplish all of his goals.    

    

Tapestry, Too's Parents Night Out!

What: We will have dinner, a dance party and show the movie "Happy Feet"!

Look out for The Souls of Our Feet in San Marcos on February 14th and the premiere of April Fools in March at the Long Center, the spring concert of our newly formed adult student company Tapestry Too! as well as our beloved pre-apprentice company Visions in Rhythm and our 12th Annual Soul to Sole Festival in June.

The last three seasons have not been easy for most non-profit arts organizations and it has truly been an up hill battle to keep this award winning 22 year old organization alive through these tough economic times.  

 

But, thanks to support from many wonderful organizations and donors such as yourselves, we have survived when many have shut their doors. 

 

Tapestry is only a reflection of those who partake in the rhythm whether onstage or off.  

 

We are YOUR Tapestry.  One beat at a time ... one heartbeat.

 

Please keep us in mind during this giving season. Your support can help to adopt a dancer (TDC has over 15 scholarships for the 2011-2012 Season that are in need of funding); support a elementary school outreach program (over 40 lecture demonstrations per year in at-risk schools); produce a show (help fund the only full-time professional tap dance company in North America); or help keep our facility repaired and heated as a Western Trails Sponsor!

 

Only 60% of Tapestry's operating expenses come from earned income through tuition and ticket sales. The other 40% must come from our community.
