Major Events

Community Development and Community Action Day in Annapolis   Register here - February 8, 2017

Community Development Week, including the Governor's Housing Conference, Counselor Connections, events around the state, and CDN's Annual Meeting: Tentatively set for the end of September/beginning of October 2017.  Details coming soon.


Upcoming General Assembly: Check out CDN's proposed legislative agenda here and budget priorities here. It includes the Community Development Fund, legislation to provide more tools for blight elimination in communities, enhancing housing counseling policies and funding, and much more. Details about how you can take action and bill numbers will be announced when available.

Federal Advocacy: CDN will be coordinating several meetings with our congressional delegation and need your sign on for letters to ensure the programs benefiting Maryland families are preserved and enhanced. Stay tuned for details.

Regional Advocacy: 
--CDN will lead the advocacy to create funding sources for the recently passed Affordable Housing Trust Fund in Baltimore City.
--CDN will help bring nonprofit stakeholders together for Prince George's County's upcoming housing planning process
--CDN's regional coalitions and regional roundtables will continue to meet 

Capacity Building

April 24-28 Neighborhood Development Corporation Training - HD422 Spreadsheet Analysis in Baltimore - register here. MUST have already taken courses HD410 and 420. If interested in taking those courses first, contact us.

May 1-3 HO209 Delivering Effective Financial Education for Today's Consumer for housing counselors - This takes place during the Maryland Community Action Partnership conference. Registration available soon.

June or July - HC200 NeighborWorks Housing Counseling certification training, in preparation for the HUD certification exam. registration available soon.

Housing Counseling Peer Learning webinars: Working with families who have missed their common ownership community payments, and a separate reverse mortgage webinar. Also webinar on the new HUD rules coming up. Details on these coming soon.

Other peer learning webinars for all members available soon, especially if specific legislation regarding blight elimination is passed, we'll train on the impact of that legislation and how to implement in your communities.

Slots available for upcoming Neighborhood Training Institutes, details coming soon.

Housing counseling certification exam - CDN has funding available for the housing counselors to pay the fee to take their certification exams. Details on amounts and application process coming soon.
