Celebrate NOWRUZ at Lala Rokh &
The MFA, Boston

Happy Nowruz to all!
This year, the Persian New Year will be on Monday 20th of March at precisely 6:28:10 AM. Here at Lala Rokh, we have celebrated Nowruz with our friends, family and patrons for over 20 years and wish to invite you back for this auspicious celebration. We will be displaying the traditional "Sofrey-e Haft Sin" (pictured above) starting March 17th through the 25th and serving the traditional Nowruz menu items during this period.

Nowruz in Persian means "New Day" and brings hope, peace and prosperity to the world and has been celebrated among people regardless of ethnic background, political views or religion for 3,000 years in many countries around the globe. A friend recently explained Nowruz this way: "...it is mostly about eating, dancing, celebrating, family and music. Think "Thanksgiving" meets "New Year's Eve".

A few years ago we (the Persian community in Boston) started a collaboration with the Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA) to dedicate a day to this celebration that serves to bring Persians in Boston to the MFA and introduce non-Persians to this tradition as well as the MFA's extensive Persian art collection.  Three years later has grown to be the largest such collaboration at the MFA which drew over 4,000 people to the museum last year in one day!

This year, the MFA Nowruz celebration will be on Saturday, March 18th from 10 AM - 4 PM at the MFA. As one of the underwriters of this program, we would like you and your loved ones to this festive occasion. Come enjoy music, dance, art and more throughout the day at the MFA.
