Hyde Park Farmer's Market Begins May 17-Oct 2015!
The Spicy Olive Hyde Park will begin Farmer's Market Hours on Sunday May 17, 2015. We will be open from 9:30 am-3:00 pm every Sunday! We are looking forward to seeing everyone outside & in the store! Get ready for some great recipes to sample from The Spicy Olive!
Austin Landing Farmer's Market Beginning Saturday June 6, 2015

    Dad's love a great olive oil and vinegar combination for Father's Day! Our flavor of the month: Harissa olive oil and Espresso balsamic, make my favorite steak marinade! I'm sure your dad will love it too!
  The Spicy Olive, West Chester and Hyde Park, will close at 4pm on Sat. June 20th, 2015. My daughter is getting married that day and we will close early to celebrate this special occasion!

 Northern Hemisphere olive oils are in stock!
 All of our fresh northern hemisphere oils are here! A new Medium Koroneiki from Greece arrives this week! We now have a Manzanillo from Spain with a 710 polyphenol count, the highest ever at The Spicy Olive! Come in and "Taste the difference fresh makes!" The Southern Hemisphere harvest has just begun. Look for those great olive oils late summer/early fall!
 ** Also our super hot Red Cayenne Chili Oil is back in stock!
*** Our Roasted Walnut oil is due to be back in the stores later this week. Due to the drought conditions in California the walnut harvest is limited as is the amount of Roasted Walnut oil.
If you've been looking for the Walnut oil, come in sooner rather than later because I don't think it will last for long!


 A Third Location Coming for The Spicy Olive!
  The tenative Grand Opening date for The Spicy Olive @ Austin Landing is June 27, 2015. The West Chester and Hyde Park Spicy Olive's will celebrate along with the new store. We will have food samples and discounts that day. More details  are to come as we firm up the opening date! Some of our customers are already excited about the news! Spicy Olive Employee, Randy Dunlap, rides Cross Country for MS
Randy began his ride for MS is mid April and is now in Virgina, the last state of his journey! They have been riding for 2500 miles and plan to finish their trip this Sunday in Virginia Beach. Please keep Randy and Jeff in your thoughts and prayers and if you haven't donated to the MS fund please consider doing so. Be sure to ask Randy about his adventure when he returns to The Spicy Olive sometime in June! Click on the link below to learn more.


June Recipes:


The Spicy Olive's Bulgar and Mediterranean Vegetable Salad
Ingredients
2 cups bulgar
1/2 cup The Spicy Olive's  Dill Olive Oil
1/4 cup The Spicy Olive's A-Premium White Balsamic
Juice and zest of one large lemon
1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
1 can or cup of garbanzo beans, drained
1 large English cucumber finely diced
1 red or yellow bell pepper finely diced
2 tablespoons fresh flat leaf parsley, chopped
1/2 red onion finely minced
1 clove garlic finely minced
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 cup crumbled feta (optional)
sea salt and pepper to taste

Directions
Soak the bulgur in very hot water (enough to cover the bulgur by 1") along with a tablespoon of salt for 30 minutes.  Drain and rinse with cold water until completely cooled and drained.  Fluff and set aside.  Combine all the other ingredients  (except the feta) and mix well.  Marinate these ingredients for up to an hour in the refrigerator.  In a large bowl, combine the completely drained and cooled bulgur with the marinated ingredients, tossing well to combine and sprinkle with feta if using. Adjust the seasoning again and serve.

Serves 4 as a main course or 6 as a side
The Spicy Olive's Persian Lime olive oil with our Honey Ginger White balsamic or our Garlic olive oil with our Sicilian Lemon white balsamic  would also be delicious combinations on this salad!

The Spicy Olive Steak Marinade
Featuring The June Flavors of the Month!

1/4 cup The Spicy Olive's Harissa or Tuscan Herb olive oil
1/4 cup The Spicy Olive's Traditional or Espresso balsamic
2 Tbsp.A-1 Sauce or Worcestershire sauce 
Salt and pepper to taste
Mix together marinade ingredients and marindae steaks overnight or for at least 2 hours. Grill until medium rare or desired doneness. A great dinner idea for Father's Day!

The Spicy Olive's Roasted Red Pepper Hummus
Ingredients
1 jar Delizia Roasted Red Peppers, drained (available at The Spicy Olive)
2 - 15 oz. cans garbanzo beans, drained
2 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1/3 cup The Spicy Olive's UP Extra Virgin Olive Oil of your choice or any Spicy Olive infused olive oil
2 teaspoons sea salt, or to taste

Directions
Place all of the ingredients in the bowl of a food processor and process until creamy and smooth. Adjust seasoning as desired.   Refrigerate until ready to serve and drizzle more fresh olive oil over the top if desired

J une 10, 2015 Rita will be at The Hyde Park store with a Father's Day theme. The menu includes: Beer Cheese with crackers, Marinated Flat Iron Steaks with thyme, garlic, parsley and Romano cheese shreds, Four Bean Salad with Grilled Corn, and Blackberry Cobbler.
   The cost for these classes is $45 per person.

Chef David Cook returns to The Spicy Olive, West Chester,  Ohio. This class is being rescheduled due to a family emergency. I will post the date once I get it from Chef David.  The menu includes Sauteed Shrimp, panzanella, asparagus, peas, Piquillio puree with Sicilian Lemon white balsamic, Field greens with honey roasted pear, mozzarella with Grapefruit white balsamic vinaigrette, Sous Vide Chicken breast marinated with Mandarin olive oil, Sauteed Broccolini drizzled with Baklouti Green chili oil and Roasted Yukon Gold potatoes. The cost for this class is $45.00 and includes wine pairings with the food served. Please call The Spicy Olive at 513-847-4397 to make a reservation.
