Welcome, Bonnie MacBird!

Linda is proud to have Bonnie MacBird as her client for her new Sherlock Holmes book, Art in the Blood. We're thrilled to be working with Bonnie in the middle of the modern Holmes phenomenon, with Benedict Cumberbatch's contemporary version of the illustrious detective on BBC's Sherlock, and Jonny Lee Miller's interpretation in Elementary on CBS. Bonnie's book will be a fantastic addition for all Conan Doyle fans to enjoy! Bonnie is a classically trained, successful actor and singer. She is the original writer of the film TRON and a three-time Emmy Award winner. She currently teaches screenwriting at UCLA while running two Sherlock Holmes societies in Southern California and taking care of her dog, Watson. Welcome, Bonnie!


Welcome, Jeremy Balkin!

Linda is thrilled to be working with Jeremy Balkin and his

debut book, The Noble Cause: How Finance Can Repair the World. Jeremy is the founder of KarmaCapital, a company that encourages the wealthy to embrace philanthropy, and runs his own non-profit philanthropic platform, Give While You Live. He has a blog at Huffington Post, and Arianna Huffington described Jeremy as the "Anti-Wolf of Wall Street." The World Economic Forum selected Jeremy as a Young Global Leader in 2013. The Dog-Gone Good Cuisine by Gayle Pruitt Featured by Cesar Milan, The Dog Whisperer! 

Gayle Pruitt recently completed her follow-up to the highly successful The Dog-Gone Good Cookbook (St. Martin's Press, 2013),  Dog-Gone Good Cuisine. She and her recipes are being featured in Cesar's Way, Cesar MIlan's magazine this month. Gayle's book was featured in the North Jersey blog and Library Journal magazine this week, and she will be a guest on Active Christian Media on February 20th, from 2-3pm. The Dog-Gone Good Cuisine will be released by St. Martin's Press next week, on February 18th, 2014.

Building Your Brand

Even for an author, branding is the most important factor in projecting an image.


Differentiating your brand from others helps to raise your profile, establish your target audience, and create a loyal following. All of this will grow your appeal to a traditional publisher. 


1. Determine your best attributes to define and separate yourself from the crowd. 


2. Find your target market and then see what other successful authors have done to gain and retain that audience. 


3. Use the Internet. Even before your book is published, use social media as a free and effective way to connect with potential readers. 


4. Self-publishing your book is often a viable and effective way to sell yourself as an author.
