Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and that you are feeling ready to begin a new year! This year I chose a theme for my monthly newsletters that will focus on the positives and all that is good in life, both personally as well as professionally. Each month I'll be sharing one of my favorite things. From recipes, to quotes, to stretches, to places I love to visit, this year I will be covering things that make me happy and make me smile, in hopes I can make you smile and spark a positive thought and a light in your heart. And please be sure to reply back, I would love to hear about your favorite things as well!

January's Favorite Thing....A Snow Day!
I'm sure if you've known me awhile, you're well aware that Summer is my favorite season. While my whole family (including Jada) are at their happiest counting down the days until the snowy, cold months, I'm on the polar opposite countdown to sunshine and pool days. But, as much as I do love the warmth of the summer, I actually don't hate winter. There are plenty of reasons to love a good Colorado winter, including the freezing cold temps and snow falls. For one, all that snow prevents us from a summer full of wildfires! And I love a good snow....as long as I don't have to drive in it, or stand out in it! I personally prefer a snowfall of less than 2 inches or more than 2 feet. Anything in between is just annoying! A thin dusting of snow covering our dry grass and tree branches is beautiful and refreshing. And I REALLY love a good blizzard....when we're all safe and warm at home, of course.
One of my most favorite things is a snow day at home with my boys!
I love to spend a bonus day sledding, shoveling, building snow forts and a backyard snowboard hill, then warming up by a fire with hot cocoa and watching silly movies. I know that for some, a big snow storm can be a royal pain, and snow days never seem to come on a good day. But I personally love a good blizzard! And I feel very fortunate to be able to take advantage of a cold, snowy day and play with my family while safe at home. I can't wait to try out a few of these fun snow day ideas with the boys! We've got our fingers crossed in this house for a snow day to come soon...but until then, here are a few pictures of our recent snowy adventures.
What do you think about big snow storms and snow days? Is it one of your favorite things as well?
