Harnessing Collective Energy!
Chief Justin George and his Council invite you to celebrate and inspire entrepreneurship.
Join us for an exciting morning of information sharing and exchange about:
  • entrepreneurship;
  • its role and value;
  • its opportunities and challenges in on- and off-reserve Aboriginal economic development.

Presenters:

These highly successful Aboriginal entrepreneurs will be joined by the Startup Canada team to engage you in a dynamic discussion facilitated by Rick Spence, weekly business columnist with the National Post.

Startup Canada is an entrepreneur-led, national movement with the objective of enhancing the nation's competitiveness and prosperity by supporting and celebrating Canadian entrepreneurship.

The event at Tsleil-Waututh i
s one of 130 planned across the nation designed to work together with the Canadian entrepreneurial community in developing a clear, collective vision for the future.

"We are excited to host Startup Canada in our territory. After thousands of years of successful trade and then over two centuries of disenfranchisement from regional economies, Aboriginal communities are just getting restarted.  We commenced the rebuilding of our economy 18 years ago and were one of the first. Entrepreneurship and the empowerment of the individual are paramount in the process.  The economic power of Aboriginal business is still largely untapped. Over the next decade we will see one after the other Aboriginal community rejoin regional, national and international markets. This will benefit not only Aboriginal communities but Canada at large. The Startup Canada event is important to connect with other leaders, share information and discuss ways to support Aboriginal entrepreneurship in the context of a national strategy."

Chief Justin George of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation
