4th Grade will be taking the STAAR Writing Test on
Tuesday, March 28th.
Message from the Principal
Hart Family and Friends,
We are heading into the testing season for our third and fourth grade kiddos. Tuesday, March 28th, fourth grade students will take the STAAR Writing Test. Please plan to visit and volunteer any day next week
except Tuesday! Thank you for your cooperation.
I want to remind everyone that students who are not in class when the 8:00 bell rings are tardy. Please help make sure our students arrive in plenty of time to make it to their classroom so they can be ready to learn when the bell rings.
We are planning to donate our lost and found items at the end of the month. Please stop by the cafeteria to see if any of the items belong to your kiddos!
Happy at Hart,

Message from the Nurse
Currently, we are seeing a few viruses (kiddos are testing negative for flu and strep) that are presenting with fever, cough, sore throat, nausea/vomiting, lack of appetite, and lack of energy. Not all are experiencing all of these symptoms. There is a stomach virus going around which most predominate symptoms are nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, and headache. Some symptoms are last up to a few days, kids seem to be feeling better and then symptoms reappear.
We are also seeing many allergy related symptoms (eye irritation seems to be the worst this week).
Flu and strep have declined (at the moment). Some are not experiencing typical symptoms of strep throat such as fever and sore throat (some are only complaining of a headache and/or stomach ache).
Symptoms of the flu may include (but may not be experience by all) are: fever, chills, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, cough, diarrhea, headache, body aches, sore throat. It seems that the most common symptoms with Flu this year are fever, sinus congestion, headache, stomach ache, and eye pressure.
Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help protect others.
The most effective way to protect ourselves for coming in contact with bacteria and viruses are:
- Frequent hand washing with soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol, when soap and water aren't available.
- Avoid direct contact with body fluids of people who are obviously sick
- Be kind and cautious with cough and sneezing--cover mouth and nose and use tissues
- Fever of 100 degrees or higher indicate student should not come to school until 24 hours fever free (without medicine) and additional concerns of illness are best discussed with your Physician
- Do NOT share food, drinks, utensils with others
- Flu shots are available in the community
- Be proactive, contain illness by staying home if you are sick, and prevent the spread of germs
Thank you for your cooperation!

The discovery of Homo naledi is featured on the October 2015 cover of National Geographic Magazine, and in a current exhibit at the Perot Museum.
