Message from the Principal
Kathy Foster

Hart Family and Friends,

Thank you for all of your support during this week's STAAR Testing. Testing is complete and we are back to our normal routine.

I'm not really sure the end of the year has a normal routine, especially when you look at the calendar for next week. We have Kindergarten Sneak Peek, Talent Shows, and Hart Beat, just to name a few of the upcoming events. We hope you plan to join us for the festivities!

Happy at Hart,
Kathy Foster

Wednesday, May 17 for Kinder, 1st and 2nd at 8:15am in the cafeteria.
On these rehearsal days, students are welcome to bring their costumes, but they will need to bring an additional change of clothes for the rest of the school day. We highly recommend that students bring any props they are using on their specific rehearsal day. Students are welcome to store their props in the music room or stage area until the Talent Show performances on Thursday, May 18 and Friday, May 19. Message from the Nurse

NEW! ILLNESS

Currently, we are seeing a rise in strep throat. Some are not experiencing typical symptoms of strep throat such as fever and sore throat (some are only complaining of a headache and/or stomach ache).  There is a stomach virus going around which most predominate symptoms are nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, and headache. Some symptoms are lasting up to a few days, kids seem to be feeling better and then symptoms reappear. We are also seeing many allergy related symptoms due to the rise in pollen levels and grass levels. Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help protect others.

The most effective way to protect ourselves for coming in contact with bacteria and viruses are:
  • Frequent hand washing with soap and water, or use alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60 percent alcohol, when soap and water aren't available.
  • Avoid direct contact with body fluids of people who are obviously sick
  • Be kind and cautious with cough and sneezing--cover mouth and nose and use tissues
  • Fever of 100 degrees or higher indicate student should not come to school until 24 hours fever free (without medicine) and additional concerns of illness are best discussed with your Physician
  • Do NOT share food, drinks, utensils with others
  • Flu shots are available in the community
  • Be proactive, contain illness by staying home if you are sick, and prevent the spread of germs
Thank you for your cooperation!

Senior Project - Children's Miracle Network
Ashton Franquiz, a Junior at Lovejoy High School, will be competing in the Miss Texas Outstanding Teen pageant. She is the reigning Miss Hunt County's Outstanding Teen 2017.  Ashton is a philanthropist at heart and feels blessed to be raised in North Dallas and in the Lovejoy District. She is part of the Majestics leadership team, choir, theatre program, and NHS. She dances outside of school and finds time to give back through the National Charity League. Ashton feels "To much is given, much is required." Ashton believes we all can make a difference, even if it is 1 hour serving somewhere.  Some are called to serve and some are called to give, but by doing something, we can all make a difference.

Over the next several weeks, Ashton is raising money for the Children's Miracle Network. Would you help her in this campaign?  "Your spare change can make a change."  Containers to collect change will be located at each campus.
