PTA Reflections:  Within Reach

The National PTA Reflections program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. Through the program, National PTA, Hart Elementary PTA, and PTAs across the country urge students in preschool through grade 12 to create and submit original works. This years' contest theme is "Within Reach".

We hope all Leopards will submit an entry in one or more of the following categories: Dance Choreography, Literature, Film Production, Photography, Visual Arts, and Music Composition. For rules and entry forms click here . The deadline is Friday, October 27th.

You may contact Rachel Butler with questions at [email protected] . Please click here for additional information.
ILLNESS
Currently we are seeing a lot of allergies (ragweed is on the rise), strep throat (seems to be starting out as stomach ache and no fever present), and a nasty short lived stomach virus causing vomiting/diarrhea, headache, and stomach ache (some are not experiencing all of these symptoms). Some are NOT experiencing fever with this stomach virus. This virus seems to be lasting about 24 hours.

Please remember, if your little ones have had diarrhea, fever greater than 100 (without medications), or vomiting they must be out of school for a full 24 hours so that we can help keep protect others.

HEAD LICE
This is the time of year that brings upsetting incidences involving head lice. Head lice can happen to anyone, so it is important to learn how to recognize, treat, and prevent it from happening again! Here's what to look for:

-Persistent itching of the head
-Small white particles attached to hair that are difficult to remove
-Small brown bugs that move very fast

*We no longer conduct "line-up" classroom lice checks but if a child is having any sign/symptoms listed above, they are sent to the clinic for assessment. For more information please refer to the link on our website under Hart Elementary/Clinic drop down tab. On the left side there is a link that is always available for your education.

MISSING IMMUNIZATIONS
There are a handful of our students that are still missing appropriate documentation of immunizations per Texas State Regulations. Please get these to the school nurse, Allison Wright, ASAP so that your child can continue attending school. IF YOU HAVEN'T HAD AN EMAIL OR PHONE CALL FROM ME YET REGARDING MISSING IMMUNIZATIONS YOUR CHILD'S IMMUNIZATIONS SHOULD BE UP TO DATE. If required immunization documentation is not received (or process of series has not started if full series is required), we may have to delay school attendance until we have appropriate documentation. Please call me (Nurse Alli) with any questions, 469-742-8156.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Eagle Project:  Hurricane Harvey Relief
A message from Hunter Kight, WSMS 8th grader:

"My name is Hunter Kight, I am an 8th grader at Willow Springs, and I've just started my eagle project. I have chosen to help the hurricane Harvey victims for my project. Many of the victims did not have flood insurance and this looks to be the most costly natural disaster in U.S. history. The clean-up and rebuild effort will take more than a year. There is a time during disasters like this that charities experience donor fatigue. This is where donations drop to their lowest. Through my project I am trying to reduce donor fatigue, by collecting basic essential items. I have partnered with the Salvation Army to collect supplies like canned goods, baby food/formula, hygiene items, diapers and cases of water. Large donation boxes are located at each school to collect these items. I will leave these boxes out until November 3, 2017. Please consider supporting this effort by filling the boxes and helping the victims."
