Harvest Moon Monday

 Sept. 12th  5:27 am EDT

Greetings,
This is the Harvest Full Moon. And the focus of this Moon is to look closely at what you want to harvest in your own life. This is a Moon of urgency and it contains a sense that you need to change Now! The reason for this sense of urgency is that the ever-challenging planet Uranus is pushing you to break out of your old structures of stagnation, and take action.

I had an amazing insight last night as I sat outside and pondered the growing Moon. I was thinking about the need for transformational change in my life, and I wondered what it was that I needed to change. I thought of my husband and my marriage and I knew I didn't want that to change. And I thought of my home, and knew that I was very happy with that too. So what, I wondered, needed to change? Like a sudden flash of illumination I realized: I could change myself! I laughed out loud because it was so typical that I would look at all the other people and things in my life that could be different, but never considered that the greatest shift of reality could exist within. I don't need to change my job, my husband, or my home. All the change I need lies within my own head, and begins with how I think about myself and live in the world.

During this Full Moon I share my insights with you in the hope that they resonate. And in that spirit, this Saturday, Sunday, and Monday when you are thinking about all you need to change, don't forget that the most simple and obvious answer might be Yourself.

In peace,   Lilan

Harvest Moon gets help from Virgo Sun
Virgo by Linda Holt-Ayriss

Virgo by Linda Holt-Ayriss

During this Full Moon, the Sun is in Virgo, an earth sign.  The Sun is the clear voice from the ego that reminds us to step back in order to clearly examine what it is we are harvesting. Virgo brings an opportunity to slow down and ground - a chance to assess if what we've been doing is working or not. It seems like life is moving so fast, and we are in such a rush, that we don't take the time to evaluate our efforts and make corrections.  This Full Moon is a chance to really look carefully, even critically, if you are planting the seeds that will actually get you what you desire. Are your actions directly related to what you really want to manifest in the world? Or are you spinning your wheels and getting lost in the details of life.

Take some time during this Full Moon to ask yourself these three questions: 1. Over the past month or year, what actions in my life are taking the most of my time and energy? 2. What goals am I hoping to accomplish with these actions? 3. Are these goals central to what I want to create in my life right now?

If you answered "Yes, my actions are central to accomplishing what I want to create in my life right now," then stop, take a deep breath, and be grateful that you are expending your life's time and energy on something central and worthwhile. Feel gratitude that you are harvesting the fruit of your labors. Notice if there is any fine-tuning you need to do to be in even better alignment between your vision for yourself and your actions

If your answer is "No," then it is time to reevaluate how you are spending your time and energy. Have you been exerting energy, but for activities that you really don't care about or are unnecessary to you? Are you moving in the wrong direction? Have you been wasting time, losing ground?  If so, notice that your actions aren't really getting you what you want or need. When I find myself lost in too many activities it helps to make a list of everything I am doing. I then evaluate each item to see if it is really adding value to my life by judging: how much time it takes, if it is directly related to my goals, does it build my resources, and do I enjoy it. These questions can provide clarity to help you redirect your energy and change course. This is a great time to provide a clear critique of your life and to be honest with yourself and practical in the changes you need to make.

Full Moon in Pisces - The VisionMaker

Maxfield Star

by Maxfield Parrish

Make your Vision for your life. Stop whatever else you are doing, and dedicate this Full Moon to really evaluating how you are living this life. Time is short, and getting shorter. Are you living the life you want? Are you contributing what you thought you would? Are you happy? healthy? wise? Step out on the ledge, let go of your conditioned programming and take a leap. Become the person that you choose to be. Move into your new identity. And then take the actions in your life each day to be in alignment with that person. If that means changing your job, then change it. If that means moving, then move. If that means to get out of your head and realize that the only person stuck is you, then get out of your head! This is the time to do it. Now.

During this Harvest Full Moon I'm going to make a contract with myself. An actual contract. I'm going to state what it is I want in my life and commit to making it happen. The only thing standing in my way is me. The only thing standing in your way is you. Let's all just break free, and trust our spirits, the universe, God, and all things miraculous, to have our back. What the heck!

Jupiter in Taurus comes to the rescue.

Jupiter close

When you gaze up at the Moon the next few nights you will see a bright light in the sky left of the Moon. That light is the planet Jupiter. Jupiter has really been our hero during this past year. I really believe that Jupiter has quietly, and with incredible grace and ease, been saving the day.  While Pluto has been digging up all the corruption in the world, and Uranus has been creating chaos in its push for change at any cost, Jupiter has been keeping a steady hand and a firm grip on reality. I know in my own chart, I can't thank Jupiter enough.

During this Full Moon, when you make your vision and remake your life, think of Jupiter. Remember that you have a guardian angel who wants the very best for you, that will do everything it can to bring you what you want, that it will find new ways of helping you gain the stablity and expansion that you need. So when you gaze at the Moon, seek your connection to Jupiter as well. This is really the "star" upon which you want to make your wish.

Talk on Carl Jung's The Red Book

Red Book Cover

Try to make it to the Joseph Campbell Roundtable for my talk on

The Red Book: Carl Jung's Journey to Regain his Soul. The Red Book is Jung's personal journal where he fearlessly explored his own psyche through active imaginations, and then worked to understand their meaning and significance. It is beautifully illustrated with Jung's calligraphy and paintings.

During this Roundtable I will share a basic understanding of The Red Book, including showing many of the beautiful images painted by Jung. I will also give a brief overview of Jungian depth psychology and provide an opportunity to engage in an Active Imagination process. Active Imagination is a meditative method of self healing defined by Jung that uses the imagination in many different forms of expression including art, sand play, dreams, journaling, visualization, and inner dialogue. Active Imagination is a way to connect to the soul's more ethereal nature (i.e. the Moon) and bring it to a conscious understanding and physical reality.

The Joseph Campbell Roundtable meets once a month at the Grace Episcopal Church at Brainerd and Belvoir. The Roundtable is open to the public. Guests and visitors are always welcome.  There is no charge, though donations are appreciated for the international Campbell Foundation and for the church space. Roundtable information can be found on Facebook on the Joseph Campbell Roundtable page, and on the Foundation website: www.jcf.org
