Dear Friends of EarthTones,

I've just returned from Esalen, playing music on the sacred Indian grounds that overlook the cliffs of Big Sur. The expansive gardens radiated with bright colored flowers and butterflies, and overflowed with the fresh fruits and organic vegetables that fed us each day. At the end of each music-filled and starlit night, I laid in the hot mineral baths and watched the setting moon turn from orange to red as it slipped beyond the sea. It was autumn, and the time of the harvest was upon us. I was filled with immense gratitude.

With all the turmoil in the world, and the stress we each accumulate trying to keep up with modern life, it is easy to forget about the abundance of resources and blessings that are available to us. Two of the most abundant and rejuvenating resources we can turn to when we need to re-calibrate are nature and music

At EarthTones, we also have a lot to be grateful for, starting with each of you who believe in our mission to transform humanity through the power of music and film. In our continued efforts to cultivate the WHY Music movement, we have planted seeds around the globe and built bridges to a diversified range of disciplines and communities.  It has been a busy summer and we are ready for the harvest.

First, I want to recognize a few of the seeds that you helped us plant:

  • We delivered a presentation on music as an essential component for wellness and human development to global leaders in exponential technology at the NASA-based Singularity University.
  • We held our first international AHRC Think Tank of researchers, academic leaders and industry experts on the grounds of the great Canterbury Cathedral in the UK, exploring the benefits of music and video game technology in education.
  • We provided music for yoga and meditation programs, hosted a workshop on the ancient wisdom and science behind sound and music, and helped lead community singing at Bhakti Fest in Joshua Tree.
  • We gave our first WHY Music workshop to teachers at the InnovatED.LA Conference at New Roads School in Los Angeles.
  • We joined forces with artist Emmanuel Jal and the We Want Peace music and awareness campaign to help save the elephant populations across Africa.
Emmanuel Jal - Founder of the We Want Peace campaign.Raising awareness on the fundamental principles of justice, equality, unification and conflict prevention, through the power of music, worldwide.

As we move into autumn, we are excited to be embarking on the creation and testing of our music-based SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) modules with the LAUSD Incubator School and Pearson Education. SEL is an exciting and evolving field at the intersection of learning and wellness, and the perfect place to support the next generation by integrating the benefits of music. We are also happy to announce that we have accepted an invitation to become part of Singularity University's Labs, where we will have access to some of the world's great minds and innovators to help us take WHY Music to the next level. Finally, we will be diving deeper into the evolving area of music and wellness through a series of partnerships and collaborations, where we hope to have a positive impact on critical health issues including autism, stress management, and dementia.

These inspired visions will certainly have some big challenges, but I am confident we can overcome them with the help of our extended community of amazing members like you, who want to see their children grow up in a wiser and healthier society.

Please continue to spread the word about EarthTones and WHY Music, and send us any people you think might be interested in joining the movement, supporting our vision, and being part of new paradigms using music to shape the future of humanity. We need your help to continue to build the community and new partnerships. Every contribution gets us one step closer to our goal: to impact the lives of 100 million people through the WHY Music campaign by 2020.

I wish each of you and your loved ones a bountiful harvest in your own lives and an inspired and music-filled season. Thank you again for your support.

With Love and Gratitude,

Frank Fitzpatrick
