Sept 11-16th
We are excited to welcome back Atsuro Chiba to the studio for a week of Ashtanga! Born and raised in Japan, Atsuro started his yoga practice in 2002, where he strongly connected with Ashtanga Yoga. Completing the 4th Series in 2015, he is currently learning the 5th Series, and has been continuously deepening and advancing his knowledge and experience of the practice for many years. Atsuro's teac hing style is to face each student and guide the awareness of the most beneficial practice for each of them. Join him mornings for Mysore and Led Primary series or for his Workshop focusing on chest and shoulders! Schedule is as follows: 
  M-Th - Mysore 6-9amFriday - Led Primary 6:30-8am  
  Saturday - Mysore 6-8:30am   / Saturday Workshop 1-4pm- Hip, Chest and Shoulder Intensive Workshop

DYS is honored to host an exceptional 200+Hr Yoga Teacher Intensive Program led by 2 of the most highly experienced yoga teachers in California. It will be held January-April, 2018 over 8 weekends. It is a rare opportunity to study and deepen your own practice under their expert guidance, and cultivate a solid foundation to acquire credentials for a 200-Hr level certification with Yoga Alliance. Come meet them both, find out more about our uniquely empowering program, and get your questions answered to see if this program is right for you.

About ADARSH and HELEEN
Adarsh teaches a contemplative style of yoga that embraces both traditional wisdom and modern innovation. He has continually traveled to Asia since 2001 and received teaching authorization from his late Guruji, Shri K. Patthabi Jois of Mysore, India. He directs Monterey Yoga Shala specializing in progressive instruction for beginner through advanced levels. Heleen started practicing Ashtanga Yoga with John Scott in 2001 and proceeded to study directly with her Guruji, Shri K. Patthabi Jois in 2002 in Mysore, India. She has been a student of the Jois family ever since and specializes in Ashtanga Yoga, Mindful Movement and Mindfulness Meditation.

IN OTHER NEWS...

Exciting News for Downtown Yoga Shala! 

In a few months, we shall be relocating to a new 2-story brick building a block down from our current location, on 550 South First St. There will be no interruption to class schedules, teachers and staff.

In September, construction and renovation activities will begin at the new location, with a Grand Re-Opening planned for November. Stay tuned for updates and announcements for open community meetings intended to share the latest developments, answer any questions, and find out opportunities to get involved in this wonderful transition.

You are all a part of this new chapter in our history. Together, we will usher in a new dawn for Downtown Yoga Shala!    It is time... And we are ready!



DONATION CLASSES resumes in September!
 
Thank you for participating in our Donation classes in May-June, benefiting the The Villa and George Travis House, both women's homeless shelters in Downtown San Jose. 

For the month of September, National Recovery Month, we will resume our donation classes to benefit the Trini Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those struggling with addiction, substance abuse and recovery to find healing through the powerful practice of yoga. Please stay tuned for the many ways you can join us in supporting this worthy cause.
