MESSAGE FROM
THE HEAD OF SCHOOL

In the Hagaddah we are invited to the narrative of the exodus with the words "tze ul'mad" - go out and learn. It is a phrase with which I described Renee Fine, benefit honoree, at the recent Spring Benefit, referencing her own journey to become a master teacher. Tze u'lmad is an appropriate inspiration for the experiential outdoor learning that Renee is known for, especially when it comes to the famous "Gold Rush" journey in which her fourth graders participate each year. Honorees Andrea and Joel Rubnitz set out on their own Yavneh journey of eighteen years of involvement in building the school. I imagine they engaged in quite a few life lessons in the process. Our school has been encouraging students to go out and learn for thirty five years! As our families prepare to embark on their own Passover journeys (whether they be to the local park, Hawaii or Israel), I encourage you all to view vacation as another learning opportunity, on that is at least as inspiring as the learning in which they engage at school. I hope you take this Passover, and especially your seders, to appreciate the learnings of your travels!  Happy Passover, and I wish you all a vacation of educational journeys.

Tse u'lmad (go out and learn something), Chag Sameach (happy holiday) and Shabbat Shalom,
Zvi
(p.s. Enjoy the video below of student and teacher words describing Mrs. Fine on the occasion of her being honored for her eighteen year Yavneh journey.)

This past Sunday, Yavneh Day School's community and supporters came together to celebrate this year's Spring Benefit "Striking Gold". Yavneh recognized the dedication and contributions that 'Runaway Renee' and Andrea & Joel Rubnitz have made to ensure Yavneh's continued success.

MIDDLE SCHOOL IN ACTION

It's Middle School Spirit week. Today was class theme day. Each Middle School class picked a theme.
The Keshet Krew introduced this month's Keshet of Kavod value on Monday, "Chesed". Take a look at their video that they created on their Journey. #RANDONACTSOFKINDNESS

STUDENTS IN ACTION

This morning, Kitah Gimel took a step back in time and visited an old-fashioned schoolhouse at History Park in San Jose.
Kitah Gan held their Model Seder today.

Kitah Alef and Kitah Bet held their model seder on Tuesday.

Recently Kitah Gan has shown great interest in helping pigeons and nature. They contacted a local dove and pigeon rescue called Palomacy to come and talk with them. Two "King" pigeons also came by for a visit. This rescue helps rehabilitate wounded pigeons and doves and
then fosters doves out until they are adopted.
