Greetings!
I hope your week is going well so far.
I am actually counting down the minutes until Saturday morning. "What's so special about Saturday," you ask?
Well, Saturday is the first day that our Awareness Tree will stand in downtown Washington D.C. (in the Old Post Office Pavilion). Every year, a single family organizes the construction of this awareness symbol on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and we bring the first batch of hundreds gold ribbons to adorn its branches. Each ribbon represents a child who has or has had cancer, so our Awareness Tree is covered by thousands of childhoods altered or even lost to this terrible disease. This is a powerful symbol that is seen by thousands of people every year; passersby are touched by the sheer volume of ribbons and names. To celebrate the lighting of the tree, we host a ceremony and invite families to join us for a FREE evening of, food, entertainers, games, and crafts. We invite you to add the name of a child with cancer to our Awareness Tree, and if you are able to, we would love for you to join us on December 3rd for the lighting ceremony.

I also wanted to use this email to introduce you to a couple of the guests we will have at our lighting ceremony. Details about the performers are below; I won't tell you who the other special guests are yet, but I'll give you a hint: They're pretty "paw-some!"
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Warmest Regards,
Amber Masso, ACCO Program Director
