Come to the Kane County Back to School Book Fair on August 25
Join the Kane County Regional Office of Education in kicking off the 2018-19 school year! Attend the Back to School Book Fair to have the opportunity to win gift baskets for your classroom, meet Harry Moon author Mark Poe and get your book signed, meet costumed characters, donate school supplies for local homeless/neglected students, and much more. Plus, all teachers that come with their Teacher ID can register to receive a 20% discount on all purchases!

The event will be on August 25, 2018 from 9:00am - 3:00pm at the Barnes and Noble bookstore in the Geneva Commons on Randall Road. A percentage of each purchase during the book fair will go towards the Kane Excellence in Education Partnership and the Kane County Juvenile Justice Center School Library. Follow the ROE on Facebook and Twitter, and look for posts with #ROEBookFair for exciting updates leading up to the event!

Kane County Receives Grant to Improve Children's Mental Health
The Kane County Health Department was recently awarded $200,000 to improve children's mental health services. This grant was awarded by the Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation through a collaboration between the Health Department and several other organizations, including the Kane ROE. As part of the grant, Kane County will be eligible for an additional $2.1 million over the following six years for the implementation of children's mental health services.

The Kane County ROE is proud to have partnered with the Kane County Health Department and several other organizations to address the behavioral health needs of children in our communities.

Upcoming Administrator Academy: PaCE Framework
Are your students on PaCE to thrive? The Postsecondary and Career Expectations (PaCE) Framework helps students make decisions about their career and post-secondary education. This workshop will help you create a plan to implement the PaCE Framework in your district, give you tools to measure current college/career readiness, and plan for your individual district needs.

This workshop will be on October 16, 2018 from 8:30am - 3:30pm at the Kane County ROE in Geneva, IL. The cost to attend is $75, and includes lunch and Administrator Academy credit.

The Progress Report: Substitute Survival
How prepared do you feel when you need to have a last-minute substitute come into your classroom due to unforeseen circumstances? This week's post in The Progress Report talks about the importance of creating an "Emergency Sub Tub" and gives tips for writing effective substitute plans.

The Progress Report is a collaborative discussion space for professional learning. Each post is written by Katie Algrim, the ROE's Director of Innovative Professional Learning. If there are any topics that you would like to see a post on,  please contact Katie Algrim.

KIDS Implementation Training on August 30th
Are you new to the Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS)? This assessment tool was designed by ISBE to assess kindergarteners for readiness during the initial weeks of the school year.

The Kane ROE will be hosting a training for teachers and administrators on August 30th. At the training, you can expect to learn the layout of KIDS, participate in reviewing/reflecting on evidence, and more as you prepare to implement KIDS into your kindergarten classrooms.

Kane ROE to Host FREE Foster Care Process Training
On August 2, the Kane ROE will be hosting a 2-hour training for individuals that support children in the foster care system. This training will be led by Angela Baron-Jeffrey, Director of the NIU Center for Child Welfare and Education, and Yasmina Sefiane, Senior Education Program Coordinator at the Center.

The FREE training will be from 9:00am-11:00am. You must register online to attend.
