Chiko Awarded a Ballistic Vest
 
On April 25th, the North Smithfield Police Department's K9, Chiko, a two year old Belgian Malinois, was awarded a bullet and stab proof vest. Chiko's handler is Officer Jay Rainville. Officer Rainville and his partner have been active since March of 2016. Chiko is certified in patrol work such as tracking, criminal apprehension, handler protection, evidence recovery, and narcotics detection.

The North Smithfield Police Department's K9, Chiko was awarded the ballistic vest thanks to a charitable nonprofit organization, "Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.". Chiko's vest was sponsored by Lincolnwood Training Club for German Shepherd Dogs of Chicago, IL and will be embroidered with the sentiment "Lincolnwood Training Club Inc. For German Shepherd Dogs".

National Grid Asks the Public to Stay Away from Power Line Corridors

Accessing rights-of-way can be dangerous to humans, animals, and the environment.

National Grid and local police are collaborating on enforcing no-trespassing laws on the rights-of-way, particularly as they pertain to all-terrain vehicle (ATV) traffic. Many police departments frequently use spot patrols of the ROW using their own ATV's.
