The next two classes of Spring 2012 begin soon, here's whats in store:

ECE 604: Supervision of Early Childhood Teachers
Instructor: Sara Seiden

Tues. (3/13, 3/20, 3/27 and 4/3) from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Good supervision supports the professional development of teachers and good teachers positively affect outcomes for children. In this course, directors will learn how to help others with their teaching practice, with an emphasis on:
  • Assessing individual teachers' needs
  • Utilizing observation techniques
  • Conducting supervision conferences
  • Developing and moving towards performance goals with teachers

ECE 618: Assessment as an Administrator

Instructor: Jean Mandelbaum

Thurs. (3/15, 3/22, 3/29 and 4/5) from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Strong leaders make all the difference in program quality. In this course directors will engage in some fact finding, self-reflection, analysis and assessment to consider how to improve effectiveness as a leader. Course participants will take steps to strengthen both their professional selves and their programs through:
  • Gaining role clarity
  • Strengthening communication skills
  • Engaging in reflective practice

ECE 614: Programming for the Whole Child
Instructor: Nancy Klinger

Tues. (4/17, 4/24, 5/1, and 5/8) from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.
Learn about the role of the director in planning and implementing a curriculum that best supports the growth and development of young children.

During the Spring 2012 semester we will also offer the final integration course open only to students seeking the credential who are close to completion of all 18 courses.

ECE 617: Integration Seminar in Children's Program Administration
Instructor: Suzanne Dohm

Tues. (4/19, 4/26, 5/3 and 5/10) from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Examine how to best use everything that has been learned about management, administration, children, families and curriculum to improve program quality. A portion of this course will be devoted to developing components of your portfolio for submission to earn the CPAC credential.
