A Note from Mrs. Bray

Greetings Hampton Cove Elementary Families,
The weather is beautiful and Spring is definitely on its way. I hope you are able to enjoy a relaxing, long weekend with your family. This week we would like to celebrate one of our fifth grade students, Ty Gibson, for his 3rd place recognition in the Arbor Day statewide poster contest. Ty and his family have the opportunity to travel to Montgomery to visit the capital of Alabama, participate in a tree planting ceremony, and tour the capital. Congratulations Ty!
We have several upcoming events that we want to make you aware of.
February 27 - March 3 SchoolNet Testing
Students will take a reading and math assessment this week based on the third quarter standards.
March 7 - Reading Night
As we celebrate Read Across America, HCES will host a reading event for our students and their families. Please look for information to come home soon in your child's Wednesday folder. This should be another fun event.
April 3-7 - PreK Applications
In April our Prek application process will open to Hampton Cove families. Any family who has a child that is 4 on or before September 1st of the application year may apply. The window will be open for several days and selection is lottery based. Check out the Huntsville City Schools ~ School Readiness webpage for additional information.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Autumn H. Bray
Principal

BOOK FAIR
Tuesday, February 21 - Friday, February 24th
Tomorrow kicks off our book fair in the library. Students will have an opportunity to shop throughout the week. The HCES library receives a bonus based on the sales of the in-school and online sales.
Can't make it to the book fair at the school or have grandparents or friends that live far away but still want to support reading? We have the answer. HCES will have an On-line Book Fair in conjunction with the School Fair. The On-Line fair will run from February 15-28. The books will be delivered to the school after the fair is closed. Go to the Book Fair home page to shop.
Volunteers are needed to help us make the Book Fair a success!
