Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and my, what an introduction to the new year we are receiving!  I know that everyone is cringing and freezing in these brutal temps, but I am quite happy- yet still freezing.  I grew up in a cold climate so this type of weather suits me just fine!  I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas break filled with sweet treats, warmth, surprises and lots of love.  These cherished experiences and memories are often what keep us going as the busyness of the new year creeps upon us.

I'd like to say thank you to all the SGA parents who donated Christmas cards for our December nursing home project.  The students wrote such heartfelt messages inside the cards that I know were received with joy for the ones who opened them.  Also, from our Belk Charity Sale the students were able to donate $370 to Christmas Charities Year Round to help ensure kids just like themselves were able to open presents on Christmas day.  Parents, thank you for all your help and support with these efforts!

Tomorrow, January 8 th kicks off our annual fundraiser for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, entitled Pennies for Patients.  Most students have already received their money collection boxes along with an informational flyer, but if you haven't seen these items yet please expect them this Wednesday.  The fundraiser will end on January 26 th.  Thanks in advance for your support in this endeavor!

Have a wonderful week and a great start to the new year.

Peace, Love and Blessings,
Wendy Manuel

DISNEY AND CAMERON MACKINTOSH'S MARY POPPINS

February 23 - March 3
The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family members how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren't the only ones upon whom she has a profound effect. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that "Anything can happen if you let it."
