CLC News
by Mitzi Hudgins

We are so excited to return refreshed from our Thanksgiving break and ready to learn!

This week I would like to introduce you to the teachers of our Ducks classroom:  Mrs. Thelissa Martinez and Mrs. Crista Meyers!  This is their second year teaching together in the older two-year-old class.  These children love to SING, explore, play together, and learn!  It may not be cold outside right now, but it was "cold" in their classroom since they learned all about arctic animals, played with ice and "snow" and sat in an igloo tent.

We also enjoy our time together in chapel and they are always such great listeners! The older children have been working on practicing for our upcoming nativity play!  What a blessing it is to see the children sing their Christmas songs!  You are welcome to come and join us at  12:00  on  December 12  and experience the true meaning of Christmas through a child's eye!  May you be blessed this week!
Discipleship and Education
by David Sweet

Two quotes for you:

1)     "The Christian life starts with grace, it must continue with grace, it ends with grace."  (Martyn Lloyd-Jones)

On the morning of Saturday, January 27 Bill Loveless will present a mini-conference on what the Bible teaches about living the Christian life by grace.  He has a powerful testimony.  It's powerful because it deals with a common frustration.  Bill was an elder in a Bible-teaching church, a successful businessman, husband and father who felt (for years) completely defeated trying to live the Christian life.  Then he discovered that Christ has provided for victory (grace) for life.  We are to live from Christ, more than living for Christ."  Mark your calendars!

2)     "Truth fuels worship. Theology sparks doxology.  It's good to ask, if our worship feels shallow, could it be because we have shallow theology?  Without theology there is no fuel to the fire of our worship.  Enduring heat doesn't come by seeking more sparks (motivational speaker, cool new conference, great musical sound).  Enduring heat comes as we pour the truth of God's word into our souls.  What God's people most fundamentally need is a grand (true) vision of God!"  (From Systematic Theology course at Capitol Hill Baptist Church.)

You will have opportunity in the coming months and years to take Core Seminars (in person on Sunday afternoon, or Wednesday evening, or online) to deepen your understanding of our blessed faith.  These Core Seminars will cover the MINIMAL REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE for believers to be worshipers in Spirit and in truth, and to be able to discuss the faith with confidence.

SECURITY TEAM meeting and training, Saturday, December 9 at 8 AM.  Breakfast provided.  If you are interested in joining this team, please RSVP and attend.  david@hayshills.com

Student Ministry
by Greg Burney

It has been a great first half of the school year at HHSM. As we push towards the end of 2017 there is much to be grateful for! God is continuing to use HHSM as an outlet to reach students for the Gospel. We have been shown in many way how students struggle and that life is tough and we are able to meet these challenges with the hope and truth of the Gospel! I want to send a huge thank you to anyone who have served in student ministry this year. You have been so amazing and passionate about pursuing the vision God has given for this ministry! I am very encouraged and excited to see what will happen next!

From Pastor Aaron

As Jon and Pat Lower head towards retirement we want to send them off with a gift of our appreciation for their years of service here at Hays Hills. You can give to the love offering we're collecting by noting on the memo line of your check "Jon Lower" or by noting the same on our online form here.

Bobby Lane has served our community for 18 years as either mayor or member of the city council. He presided over his final meeting on Tuesday, November 21st. Thanks, Bobby!

This week we awarded Outstanding Performance Recognition Awards to two members of our staff for their recent work above and beyond their normal job responsibilities.

Our Operations Manager, Jennifer Crosby, did an excellent job coordinating the Run for the Hills event to raise funds for our transitional housing ministry. While she always pursues excellence in her work with her non-profit, For the Love of Go, she labored out of love on our behalf to make our first race a success.

Our Minister of Worship, Tim Snowden, with Christmas Musical planning in full swing, put in the additional time and effort to lead our 5th Sunday Sing the final week of October. He planned the music and a time of scripture reading that was a blessing to my soul and all of those who were in attendance. How great it was to hear the voices of so many of our congregation reading God's word! Tim followed that by taking the helm at the sound booth for the youth ministry's spaghetti dinner the following Sunday evening.

As you see Jennifer and Tim around our campus be sure to share your appreciation for their willingness to go above and beyond in their service here at Hays Hills.

Thank you!

Our Fellowship Team led by Kathey Henley worked many hours to prepare for our outstanding Thanksgiving feast!

Prayer Updates

Sunday begins the Week of Prayer for International Missions. We'll have prayer guides in the bulletins for you to use during the week. Be praying that as we distribute the prayer guides on Sunday, we as a people would respond by running to the throne of grace on behalf of the nations.

Larry and Barby Bowles daughter, Angela, was in ICU last week with blood clots on the brain. She has been moved to a regular room. Continue to pray for her recovery.

Our Christian sympathy is extended to Joyce Phillips in the death of her mother-in-law. Pray for the loving care of our Heavenly Father to be unmistakably present with Joyce and the family.
