Student Ministry News
by Greg Burney

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Student ministry at Hays Hills is going well! We are now in the midst of our summer activities and it is awesome to see God working in the lives of our students!

A few weeks ago we launched our new small group format on Wednesday's and God is definitely working to bless that time! Please keep our adult volunteers in your prayers as they navigate and facilitate these groups and work towards a discipleship focused small group time every week.

We also have 2 different student bible studies going on during the summer as we look for more ways to connect with students and teach them to look more like Jesus.

Summer camp is right around the corner! If you have a student attending summer camp please plan to attend the meeting this Sunday at 4:00 in the high school room. We will spend about an hour going over what to expect at camp as well as field any questions you may have about the week.

Thanks for all of your support Hays Hills! God is good!

Discipleship

Below is an email my son-in-law, George Wamukota, received from his father in Uganda.  (The early service got to hear from Pastor Vincent in January after the wedding.) My daughter has received support from some of you and others she knows during her time serving in Uganda, and after returning to the U.S. she continued to receive some of this support.  So she wanted those excess funds to be sent back to Vincent's church (also George's and Callie's former church) which has started ten churches in a largely Muslim area near their church.  The baby-church mentioned below is in the spiritually darkness place compared to the other nine locations: a combination of Islam with traditional religions-very much like voodoo, predominates there.

Dearest George,

Thank you for your very exciting email. It is always nice to hear from you.  Congratulations on the success of your work permit. That is another mile stone broken, and I have no doubt that you will successfully get your green card next year. God has gone ahead of you and you have His favour on you.

I can't tell you how much we as Bethel are very grateful for the generous gift from Hills Baptist Church. Bethel has started a new church plant in Bukonde but we did not have land and shelter for the congregation. We had raised some money towards land purchase but it was not enough. The charitable donation from Hills will now allow us to purchase the much-needed Land on which we shall build the Church building in future when God provides again.  Please thank them very much on our behalf.

I will be waiting for the western Union information concerning the cash.

God bless you and please greet Callie and all the Sweets on my behalf.

Papa.

Imagine  the relief and love felt by many other missions spots when we release funds to them from the MISSIONS POSSIBLE OFFERING: Uganda, Haiti, Ethiopia, Himalaya's, South Austin Pregnancy Resource Center, North American church planting efforts, and more.  DON'T STOP praying for power in Hays Hills to finish this offering!

From Pastor Aaron

We're baptizing five new believers on Sunday! As I thought about their stories on Monday, I couldn't help but be overwhelmed with God's goodness and with thanksgiving for what God is doing through our church.

Tate is a child we've watched grow up at Hays Hills as we've partnered with his parents in raising him in the knowledge and instruction of the Lord. How thankful I am for the teaching he has received from Children's Bible Life teachers and the example of Christian faith and obedience he has witnessed in the lives of our membership. How thankful I am for Chad and Melissa who have taken seriously their responsibility to disciple their son!

Logen and Andrew are teenagers who have been encouraged to faith through our Student ministry and a love they've witnessed in their homes that testifies to the reality of Jesus Christ. As I've watched Ken & Jessica Moore and Wade & Denise Strickland show the love of Christ through their generous love that puts others first, I've been spurred on to step up my game when it comes to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24).

Polly is a woman who has counted the cost and decided to follow Jesus. I've never seen the Holy Spirit reach out more clearly in drawing someone to faith in Christ. I've watched Alpha & Omega rally around Polly and Harriet Johnson take her under her wing to disciple her. I cried big crocodile tears the first time I saw her singing praise to the Lord in the choir.

John is a man who heard the gospel and was encouraged in faith by our team that goes into the West Oaks nursing home. I've seen his commitment to Christ and Christ's church and his hunger to grow in the Lord. On Sunday we get to rejoice in John's salvation as part of the fruit of the West Oaks ministry.

On Sunday we're celebrating five people who will spend eternity in heaven! We're celebrating the salvation of Jesus Christ! And it's an encouraging reminder of what Christ can do through His people.
