It's Almost Time for UP's "Take a Student to Work Day"
Please join in the education of Urban Prep students by taking our young men to work and participating in Discovering Our City.
Each year, Urban Prep students participate in a program we call Discovering Our City (DOC). During this all-school field trip, students travel in small groups to cultural institutions, businesses, Chicago landmarks, universities, nonprofit organizations, etc.
The goal of DOC is to expose our students to the wonders that Chicago has to offer and allow them to be inspired by the people--like you--who are making our great city work. Last year, our students visited over forty sites for DOC (a summary of DOC 2011 can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/UP-DOC11).
This year, DOC will be held on Wednesday, April 18, and we would very much like for you to host and/or sponsor a group of students. DOC hosts spend about 90 minutes (from 10:30am to 12:00pm) with the students. In the past, students have taken tours, enjoyed "career-day" type panel discussions, met with organizational leaders and worked on projects.
To register to host or sponsor a DOC group, click here (or visit http://tinyurl.com/UP-DOC12r). If you have questions or require additional information, feel free to contact DOC coordinator Brandon Brooks (bbrooks@urbanprep.org; 312-276-0259, ext. 1123).
